Mrs. Charles Biddle of Thorp has been the guest of Mrs. Ted Hendricks of Withee for several days.

 

Mr. and Mrs. F. E. McMiller recently returned from a two-week visit with her brother, Ralph Vennes, at Everett, Wash.

 

Attending the 27th annual convention of the La Crosse Diocesan Council of Catholic Women at Marshfield recently were the  following women from Holy Rosary Church in Owen: Mmes. John Greschner, Henry Mauel, Ernest Gay, Charles Klapatauskas, Frank Hiebsch, Margaret Vandehey, Ignac Novak and Ray Conzemius.

 

The Owen-Withee PTA met recently. Guest speakers were two local traffic officers who spoke and showed movies on the critical highway safety problem.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Johnson and family visited relatives in Withee and Thorp over the weekend, returning to La Crosse late Sunday.

 

Edward Wendt, Withee, is in Appleton this week to substitute at the Appleton whey plant during the vacation of an employee there.

 

The Congregational Church gave a children’s party prior to Halloween. The Withee Brownies had their Halloween party at the Junior Lunch room after school.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Olson visited at Lauren Miller’s in Longwood Sunday.

 

Bert Olson and Arnold Coppier of Baldwin visited at the home of Alfred Olson recently.

 

Mrs. Harris Ramburg of River Falls visited Mrs. Alfred Olson recently.  Mr. Ramburg took her home.

 

Mrs. Jeanette Anderson accompanied Rev. and Mrs. Cecil Ward of Stanley to Hurley and Ironwood, Mich., Thursday and to Wausau Tuesday.

 

The grade children of the Owen school were given a Halloween party following a parade through the streets of Owen in costume.

 

Leon Bruchert, S. E. Beck and Jack Fritz have returned from a fishing trip into Canada.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Tom H. Hild of Waterloo, Ia., visited Mrs. Hild’s sister, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Nibar, in their new farm home near Withee, recently.

 

Jean Christiansen and her cousin, Kristy Potocnik of the Nazareth Lutheran Young People’s society, left last Thursday for a youth conference in Des Moines, Ia. They returned late Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rabska and family are on a 10-day trip to Meeker, Colo. While there Mr. Rabska intended to get in some (missing line).
