Radowitz, Benedict (17 SEP 1877 - 21 MAY 1959)


Services for Benedict Radowitz, 81, of route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), who passed away at his farm home of a heart attack on May 21, 1959, were conducted Monday morning at a 10:00 a.m. service from St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at Thorp, with Rev. Anthony Zvinklys of Hillsboro, a close friend of the family, officiating at the Requiem High Mass, and Rev. Connie Chilicki of Thorp assisting.  The Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home of Owen had charge of the other funeral arrangements.


The deceased was born on Sept. 17, 1877, in Lithuania.  He came to this country at the age of 21.  He lived in Chicago, Ill. for 22 years before purchasing a farm in the town of Hixon, where he has resided since.


On Jan. 26, 1908 he was united in marriage to Katherine Entas in a ceremony performed in Kewanee, Ill.  She passed away May 20, 1943.


Surviving are Mrs. Paul (Julia) Strohkirch of Owen, and Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Munson of Withee, with whom he resided. Five grandchildren also survive.


Serving as pallbearers were S.M. Munson, Lionel Thibert, Lewis F. Gehrke, Jack Easter, Kenneth Frost, and Clarence Mertens.  Acting as honorary escorts for the cortege were grandsons, William and James Strohkirch.


Interment was in the family plot in Riverside Cemetery.
