Veurink, William #2 (12 OCT 1900 - 15 JUL 1959)

William Veurink was born Oct. 12, 1900 at Sheboygan Falls, Wis., the son of Garrett Veurink and his wife Mary, nee Verhulst.  He grew up into youth and manhood, having attended the common schools of Sheboygan Falls.  They he came to live in Clark County.  He was united in marriage to Miss Tyrni Leino at Neillsville, Wis., Sept. 2, 1925.  After some time on the farm the young couple moved to the Village of Withee, where the deceased establish a business.  Here he lived exactly 30 years, when his end came.

His health began to fail some four years ago, and he underwent surgery in Rochester, Minn.  Less than a year ago the old trouble flared up again, and again there was surgery, without arresting the disease this time.  He passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield early Wedensday morning, July 15, 1959, at 4:10 a.m., after being confined chiefly to his home for several months.  He attained the age of 58 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Burial services, in charge of the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, were held at St. John’s Church, Withee, Friday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m.  Pastor Theodore C. Predoehl spoke words of comfort based on the Seventh Petition of the Lord’s Prayer, "Deliver Us from Evil."  Mrs. Ted Klabon sang "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "In the Garden," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. H. Rabska.  In addition to six regular pallbearers, there were also eight honorary pallbearers.  Thirteen ladies were flower girls, as there was a profusion of very beautiful flowers.  He is mourned by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Norbert Bruchert of Withee; one granddaughter, Patricia Bruchert; a sister, Mrs. Leon Olson, Superior, Wis.; a niece, Mary Jo Bartylla, Superior; two nephews, Kenneth Olson, Superior, Wis., and Lloyd Olson, Moorhead, Minn.; an aunt, Liza Verhulst, Milwaukee, and a number of cousins and other relatives.

The church was crowded for the funeral, and many friends were seated outdoors and heard the service by way of a loudspeaker system.

Interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery.  The pallbearers were: Bernard Auberg, Frank Hendriks, Walter Lipprandt, George Vollrath, William Weinberger, and Ervin Zelm.  Honorary: Leon Bruchert, Grant Anderson, Levi Dickinson, Emery Erickson, Lester Hansen, Eddie Le Page, Louis Pagel, Harry Thorson.

The flower ladies were: Mesdames Tillie Weinberger, Viola Hendriks, Aleda Tormey, Bonnie Hansen, Della Le Page, Annie Nissula, Isabelle Backe, Natalie Scherf, Marian Lipprandt, Ruth Krach, Betty Bruchert, Fiora Bartholomew, and Veryl Auberg.

Bill Veurink’s long illness and passing is mourned by a host of friends from an extended area of his home community, as his personable manner and worthy business dealings in the livestock business for so many years won him many admirers.
