Pomputis, Peter (1882 - 1 JAN 1960)

 

The family of Peter Pomputis and friends were shock New Year’s Day when he succumbed suddenly when stricken by a heart attack.  Death came at his home in Chicago, Ill., where he has resided since leaving here four years ago.

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, Owen, with Father H.L. Crubel officiating at the service.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Acting as pallbearers were Ervin Zelm, George, Frank and Edward Rinehart, Milton Johnson and Emery Sorenson.

 

The deceased was born in 1882 in Lithuania.  As a youth he came to this country, first settling in Illinois for a short while, previous to moving to the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) community where he settled on a farm in the Town of Longwood in 1908.  Two years later he was united in marriage to the former Josephine Dvaries in a ceremony performed at Waukegan, Ill.  They resided on their farm in the Longwood Township until his retirement in 1955 when he moved to Owen.  The past couple of years he had made his home with a daughter in Chicago.

 

His passing is mourned by four sons, Adolph, George, Tony and Alfred, all of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Ed (Lucille) Jantas, Oak Lawn, Ill.; Mrs. Bernard (Anna) Pautz, Greenwood, Mrs. Elmer (Julia) Twait, and Mrs. Ed (Marg) Rinehart of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and one nephew.
