Gehrke, Patricia (15 OCT 1960)

A beautiful church wedding took place Saturday, Oct. 15, 1960 at 2:30 in the afternoon when Patricia Gehrke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gehrke, Owe (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Kenneth Langhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Langhoff of Wausau.

Rev. Max Wilhelm of Osseo performed the ceremony which was solemnized at Holway Lutheran Church, town of Holway (Taylor Co.).

The bride wore a floor length bridal gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle over net and satin.  The snug bodice was of lace with scalloped Sabrina neckline and long lace sleeves embroidered with sequins.  The lace tunic skirt pointed down at the back over ruffles of lace and crystal pleated tulle which fell into a chapel train.  She wore a fingertip veil of imported pure silk illusion caught to a jeweled scalloped Quen’s crown of rhinestones.  The bride carried a purple throated white orchid surrounded with white stephanotis.

Preceding the bride to the altar were twins, friends of the bride, Michael and Michelle Brill, who were the ring bearer and flower girl.

The bride’s sister, alice Gehrke, Owen, was the maid of honor, and Mrs. Ronald Schultze, a friend from Wausau, was bridesmaid.  They wore ballerina length gowns of silk organza in royal blue.  Their fitted bodices were styled with three fold to form, a cowl effect under the scoop neckline and brief sleeves.  Two fully gathered tiers fashioned the bouffant skirt.  Their crowns were of sequin braid with aurora crystals looped in front and halo veils to match their dresses.  They carried nosegays of fall mums.

A reception and dinner was served  to 250 guests in the church basement and the parents, also, received guests at their home after the wedding in an open house.  The wedding cake, beautifully decorated, was made by the groom’s mother, and was cut by the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Rachel Olmstead of Cornell.

The newlyweds departed on a wedding trip which took them to Florida and New York City.
