Peterson, Ilene E. (23 MAY 1919 - 20 MAY 2011)

MARSHFIELD -- Ilene E. Peterson, 91, formerly of Marshfield, entered eternal life Friday, May 20, 2011, surrounded by her family and under the tender care of Hospice in Pewaukee.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev Tricia Turner will officiate. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.

Ilene was born May 23, 1919, in Chili, a daughter of Charles and Eva (Lindow) Meissner. She was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School.

On Oct. 4, 1941, at the Evangelical Church Parsonage in Chili, the former Ilene Meissner was united in marriage to Delmore E. Peterson. He preceded Ilene in death June 12, 1991.

Ilene assisted her husband, Delmore, and his brother Lawrence in operating Peterson Bros. Construction. The company did excavating, trucking and snowplowing. They ran the business until retiring in 1986.

The couple enjoyed ballroom dancing and belonged to an area dance club. They also liked to spend time at their hobby farm/cabin in Lindsay.

Ilene was a member of Faith Lutheran Church while in Marshfield and always enjoyed singing with the Faith Lutheran Choir.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Karen (Robert) Zwissler, Hartland, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family of Ilene requests memorials to Kirkland Crossings (700 Quinlan Drive, Pewaukee, WI 53072), where Ilene resided and was cared for since leaving Marshfield.
