Wallin, Knute B. (21 DEC 1939 - 18 MAY 2011)

 


Knute Bryant Wallin, 71, of Greenwood and Grand View, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.


He was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Ashland, the son of Viv C. and Edith (Gunderson) Wallin. He graduated in 1957 from Drummond High School, and graduated in 1961 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior with his bachelor's degree. He married Korlis K. Wernberg on June 1, 1963, in Arpin. He received his master's degree in biology in 1968 from St. Mary's College in Winona, Minn., and then received his administrative degree in 1984 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.


For 26 years, he taught biology and for 14 years he was the principal of Greenwood High School. Knute retired in 2000. He was a 32nd Mason, an Eagle Scout and entertained as the Wayward Scandinavian. He enjoyed family, friends and music. Knute loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his granddaughter.


He is survived by his wife, Korlis K., Greenwood and Grand View; two sons, Karl Wallin, Hixton, and Leif (Erin) Wallin, Grand View; two grandchildren, Beyla Kristine Wallin and Ivar Knute Wallin; a sister-in-law, Virginia Wallin, Grand View; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Fern Sibbald; and a brother, Dud Wallin.


A funeral service will be held at noon today at the Grand View United Methodist Church, with Pastor Julie Burmeister and Pastor Dan Zai officiating. Interment will take place in the Grand View Cemetery.


Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service Saturday at the Grand View United Methodist Church.
