Crandell, Ida E. (5 MAY 1858 - 27 MAY 1943)

Mrs. George W. Crandell died at her home in Antigo, Thursday morning, May 27, 1943, after an illness extending over a three month period, having attained the age of 85 years and 22 days.

 

She was born Ida Evaline Albright, May 5, 1858, in Fond du Lac, and her marriage to Mr. Geo. W. Crandell took place Aug. 31, 1876, at Greenbush, Wis., where they made their home on a farm for a few years after.  They moved to Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), conducting a general store there for 17 years, and came from there to Antigo.  The Crandells have been residents here for more than 40 years.

 

A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, was a past matron of Jewell chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an honorary member of the Antigo Woman’s Club.  She was always active in church service work.

 

Surviving are her husband and one sister, Mrs. Amy Hull of Antigo.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Crandell were held Saturday, May 29, at the Methodist Church, with the Rev. Victor Nearhoof officiating.  Mrs. Jens Jesdahl was the soloist.  She sang "Prayer Perfect: by Stenson and "Paradise" by Petrie.  Mrs. Ethel Jaeckel was organist.

 

Pallbearers were Frank O’Neill, A.L. Hayner, W.E. Switzer, Charles Avery, Walter Roeber and Caleb Chapman.  Interment was in Antigo Cemetery.

 

Coming from out of town for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Hull, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. George Daget, Bear Creek; Mrs. Ida Bressette, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gile, Merrillan.
