Washburn (26 April 1962)


The Cannonville Ladies Aid which was to have been entertained by Mrs. Oliver Williams this week has been postponed due to the illness of Mrs. Williams. 


Mrs. Chris Feutz entertained the Washburn Homemakers club last Thursday with quite a large attendance. Mrs. Eugene Simmons and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer reported on the spring council meeting.   Last year’s officers were re-elected for another year. They are Mrs. Eugene Simmons, president; Mrs. John Reinart, vice president; Mrs. George Gorbet, secretary; Mrs. Adolph Mazourek, treasurer; Mrs. Ralph Short, health chairman; Mrs. John Reinart, Menu chairman.  Gowns were modeled for the Style show to be held Achievement day in Greenwood May 8.


Mrs. Oliver Williams was ill last week and was a hospital patient from Monday until Saturday.


Mr. and Mrs. Albert Zank and son, Jerry, and Mrs. Art Williams, Chippewa Falls, were Sunday afternoon and supper guests at the Oliver Williams home. Mr. Zank has employment at Cedar Rapids, Ia.; where he is manager of a Farmers Union Seed Company.  His family still is at Chippewa Falls but they expect to move to Iowa this summer or fall.  He spends the weekends at home. 


Duane Kissling, who attends school in Minneapolis, spent Easter vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kissling.  He returned to school Monday.


Sylvia Kuhn, who is taking practical nurses training at a Madison Vocational school, is spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuhn.


Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek spent the weekend in Chicago with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John McNeal and family and other relatives.


Mr. and Mrs. Louie Matousek, Milwaukee, spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Frank Short.  Mr. and Mrs. Matousek and Mrs. Short were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Short.


Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Laufenberg and family and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Laufenberg and family, Alma Center, were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel.


Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp and daughters, Marshfield, Irene Van Kirk, Sparta, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. T. M . Winters, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wall, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Vincent and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vincent and daughter, Joyce, and Donald Havlicek were Easter dinner and supper guests at the Jack Urban home.


Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Trachte and daughter, Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Abrahamson, Fairchild, and Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Boyer were entertained at dinner Saturday by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trachte.


Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz and sons, Waterford, spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz and Mrs. Henry Hubing.


Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz and family, Wisconsin Rapids, were Easter dinner and supper guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Feutz.


Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schultz spent Tuesday afternoon and were supper guests at the Paul Kuhn home.


Mr. and Mrs. George Allbaugh and Mrs. Ed Short were Easter dinner guests at the Donald Kalsow home.


Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Kuechenmeister, Kenosha, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kuechenmeister and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kissling and sons were Easter dinner guests at the Art Kuechenmeister home.


Mrs. Elmer Kapfer made a business trip to Owen last week.
