Neillsville Locals (17 May 1962)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Delano Hubing, who were married May 5, in St. James Catholic Church in La Crosse, are now residing in Mankato, Minn., where he works in a chain store.  Mr. Hubing is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hubing of Neillsville.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schleifer and family visited his parents in Melrose last weekend.

 

Beatrice MacMillan, 86, a former first grade teacher in the Neillsville Public Schools, is now living at 2449 N. Downer Ave. Milwaukee.  She retired from teaching about 35 years ago.   Her parents built the MacMillan house on Hewett Street, which now is the Subke Home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Buettner of Hackensack, Minn., and Mrs. Leota Buettner were supper guests Saturday at  the Otto M. Schultz home.  Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schultz and family of Marshfield visited there and at the Soren Larsen home in Dewhurst Sunday.  Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Buettner and children of Appleton visited at the Schultz home Sunday.

 

Mrs. Sadie Haight entered Memorial Hospital last weekend for treatment of a severe cold.

 

Edward Struensee, who suffered serious injury March 7, when frozen silage fell on him, will have to wait four weeks before removing his cast.

 

Harry Struensee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Struensee, made a trip to Rochester, Minn., Monday to check on employment.  He is an airplane mechanic.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Holmberg and granddaughter, Cheryl Wantovich, of Racine were weekend guest of Mrs. Vera Shumway.

 

Ed and Marvin Jahr of the Town of Grant visited Mrs. Frank Jahr in Memorial Hospital, Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bemis, and Mrs. Gary Corey and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Brooks in Ottawa, Ill., last weekend.  The Brooks family is moving this month to Iowa.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Short entertained her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Amo of Black River Falls, last weekend.

 

Mary Hartz visited relatives in Hilbert last weekend.

 

The Rev. Jack Grether and Richard Schneider made a business trip to Milwaukee, Monday.

 

The Blue Birds Camp Fire Girls’ group, made a tour of the Winnebago Children’s home Saturday, Mrs. Jeanette Perushek, Mrs. Howie Sturtz and Mrs. Richard Tibbett accompanied them.

 

The Rev. Bernard Kelly, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, attended the dedication of St. Joseph’s Cathedral in La Crosse Monday.

 

Lori Jean Lynch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lynch, was baptized Sunday by the Rev. Bernard T. Kelly at St. Mary’s Catholic Church here.  Sponsors were Lawrence Lynch and Romelle Stuckert of Eau Claire. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Stuckert and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lynch and their family were dinner guests at the Richard Lynch home.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gutenberger spent a weekend in Milwaukee at a wedding and visited their son, Robert, and his family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Drake and family were weekend visitors at the Russell Drake home.  Mrs. Opal Raines of Minneapolis also visited there Sunday.]

 

Mrs. Russell Drake visited the Robert Drake family in La Crosse recently and while there entered a La Crosse hospital for a check-up.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Anderson and Judy visited Mr. and Mrs. James Marek in Black River Falls Sunday.

 

Joe Horehled visited his daughter, Mrs. Warren Cattanach, and her family in Wisconsin Rapids Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Horehled and family were dinner guests at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Beyer, Sunday.

 

Julius Martens, Superior, visited his family in Hewett last weekend.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Langreck entertained the Robert Opelt family at dinner Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Junchen visited Mrs. Anna Junchen and Elmira in Menasha Sunday.

 

Carl Rothenburger, who has been confined since November 16, is able to be about the home with the aid of crutches.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob H. Hoesly and Allan visited Mona Hoesly in Eau Claire Saturday.

 

David Farrell of Black River Falls visited friends in Neillsville Tuesday.

 

The Pine Valley Homemakers met at the home of Mrs. Wilbert Kalsow Wednesday afternoon.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meyer visited Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neff Jr., Saturday evening.
