Miller, John (8 Oct 1854 - 27 Apr 1914)

John Miller died Monday afternoon at the Marshfield hospital where he went last Saturday for treatment for blood poisoning.  Mr. Miller scratched his hand on a tin pail a week ago Saturday, but thought nothing of it until the hand began to swell.  Blood poisoning set in and the poison became distributed through his system until medical assistance was of no avail.  Mr. Miller was born in New Berlin, Wis., Oct. 8, 1854.  The early years of his life he spent at his birthplace and was married there to Mary Lauer about 35 years ago.  They moved to Sullivan, later sold there and moved to Whitewater and from the latter place came to Neillsville, purchasing their farm west of the river and which remained the home of the deceased until his death.  Mr. Miller was a good man in every respect, was hard working and conscientious and his death is a matter of sincere regret to all who know him.  Deceased is survived by his wife and the following children: John of Milwaukee, Joseph of St. Paul, Mrs. Barney Gehrman of Hudson, Mrs. Guy Sperbeck of Oshkosh, Frank, Ben, Albert, Alice and Angeline who all are at home and Agnes who is in St. Rose Convent at La Crosse.  Mr. Miller will be buried today, services to be held at St. Mary’s Church this morning.  Mr. Miller was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
