Merrillan (5 July 1962)

 

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Reinart will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 8; with Open House from 2 until 5 p.m. at their residence in Merrillan.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Anger and daughter, Darlene, and Caroline Gosh have taken a two-week trip through nine states.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Neil Manning of Holcomb, Ill., spent Satruday with Mr. and Mrs. John Anger.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Royce Barrows of Minneapolis visited Thursday with his mother, Mrs. Minnie Barrows.

 

Mrs. L. V. Hayden, Sr., spent a week at Lodi, visiting her sister and relatives.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sherman of West Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sollberger of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sollberger of Athens spend Sunday with Mrs. Leslie Sherman.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mergener of Chicago are spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mergener.

 

Mrs. Oscar Cleveland and children, Garry, Dennis and Karen, of Waukesha spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Johnson.

 

Bernice Schnur returned to Milwaukee after spending two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Gustave Johnson.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Arringdale and son of Indianapolis are stopping at the John Bentley home.

 

Misses Margaret Zeiglmaier and sister, Mildred, and niece, Margaret, all of La Crosse, were picnicking over the Fourth with Mr. and Mrs. John Bentley.  They were helping celebrate Mr. and Mrs. Bentley’s ninth wedding anniversary.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lane and family of Eau Claire spent Sunday with Mrs. Ole Olson.

 

Mr. and Mrs. William Price of Beloit and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lane of Eau Claire spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Olson.

 

Mrs. Ray Gile is vacationing at Three Lakes.

 

Mrs. Glen Stuve was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower given at the home of Mrs. John Cormican Thursday night.  Mrs. Walter Cooper and Mrs. Marion Kluckhohn of Neillsville were co-hostesses.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Berg and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Olson of Bloomer were Sunday callers at the home of Mrs. Charles Nielson.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Burdette Erickson of New York are spending their vacation with Mrs. Nels Erickson.

 

Claude Duncan, 77-year-old-Merrillan resident, met the Northwestern "400" in Merrillan June 23 with an old-fashioned hay rack fixed up with crude seats and driven by a team of mules, Jack and Jenny, age 11 and nine.  Passengers desiring a ride to Alma Center for the Strawberry Festival were given a free ride.

 

The Davis-Porter American Legion of Merrillan is building a cement block addition on the south side of their hall and they are adding a kitchen and toilets.

 

De Van Staples and Gus Newman of Merrillan spent last weekend on a fishing trip and visiting friends in Trempealeau.
