Smith, Meldrum (28 MAY 1908 - 1 MAR 1945)

A message was received Saturday by relatives here that Mel Smith had died suddenly in the state of Washington, where he had been living with his family for the past year and a half, while employed in a war plant.  The remains were brought here (Humbird, Clark Co., Wis.) for burial, and services were held at the Methodist Church at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R.W. Sachtjen.  Interment was in the family lot in Mentor Cemetery.  Mr. Smith was about 37 years of age, and is survived by his widow and two children, besides his brothers and sisters and other relatives here.
