CLARK COUNTY DEATHS

Deaths in Clark county in 1930 reached a total of 264, making an increase of 198 over the 1929 total.

Heart disease, the leading death cause in the county took 55 lives last year as compared with 51 in the preceding year, and cancer almost doubled its toll by claiming 36 lives in 1930 as compared with 19 in 1929.

Deaths from cerebral hemorrhage in Clark county showed a decrease, however, last year’s toll of 24 lives being nine less the in the preceding year.

In a number of contagious diseased which have caused great loss of life in Wisconsin, Clark county kept her death list down to a minimum last year. Not a single death was reported from typhoid fever, measles, whooping cough, diphtheria or poliomyelitis.

Only four deaths from influenza occurred in the county last year, as compared with 16 deaths in 1929. Pneumonia increased its menace from 12 deaths in 1929 to 16 in 1930, and tuberculosis deaths, seven in 1929, increased to eight last year.

Nephritis continued to be an important death cause in Clark county by claiming 13 lives last year, but this was two cases less than in 1929, the survey of the state bureau shows.

Among the deaths by violence, little change was noted in the comparison of statistics for the two years. There were 4 suicides last year as compared with 5 in 1929. Accidental falls and crushings took 3 lives last year, one less that in 1929, and auto accident deaths totaled 4 in each of the two years.
