Woods, Raymond D. (? - 24 August 2011)

Raymond D. Woods, 81, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, peacefully in his sleep.

He will be dearly missed by: his wife, Yvonne Woods; his brother, Paul (Beulah) Woods; his sister, Donna (Ed) Sobotik; and five children: Tom (Nancy) Woods, Duane (Kathy) Woods, Diane (John) Zagozen, Don (Karen) Woods, and Brad (Laurie) Woods; his ten grandchildren; seven-and-a-half great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Ray served for many years as Fire Chief for the Thorp Fire Dept., he was also a Deputy Sheriff for Clark County and part-time police officer for the City of Thorp for many years.

Some of his hobbies included creating stained glass windows for local churches, rock polishing, silver casting and one of his favorites was participating in pre-1840 re-enacting, which involved the shooting of black powder muzzle loading rifles. Hunting and fishing were also an important part of his life.

But anyone who knew him clearly understood that family was the most important part of his life.  He cherished his family members and was very proud of each and every one of them.

Friends and family celebrated Ray’s life at Faith Evangelical Free Church on Monday, August 29th. Visitation was at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.  Fellowship followed at the church after the service.
