Heathville (21 October 1910)

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilcott are rejoicing over the arrival of a ten pound baby girl.

A raffle dance was given by Abel Harding on Saturday of last week.  The raffle was a fair and square deal.  Oswald Henning was the lucky one to get a set of dishes consisting of about 50 pieces.  The dance also was well attended and at present all report a good time.

Fred Dankemyer has engaged Gottlieb Betzinger to rid his farm of pine stumps.

Our cheesemaker W. J. Gerlach is building a new dwelling.  The planning and building contract was let to Wm. Zorn one of our most prominent farmers in Heathville.

Andy Drone left for parts in Montana.

Miss Fronie Schuster spent a few hours under the parental roof, Sunday.

Chili now has a milk extractor.  He extracted another man’s milk from another man’s cow and was caught at it.  Well that is a sin.

Dunder and blitzen ejaculated old unkel.  However the most interesting part of his tale is to come.  With one of his Pretzel Brockers Buegeleisen smile on his face he says raus mit die Katz.  I ain’t had a rabbit for two years and that is enough for today.  He says; he and Joe Bird fed 25 jack rabbits last winter and I don’t want a single one to be killed this fall.  In an artless simplicity of his unfeathered mind the poor miser was consuming a chew of tobacco which perhaps a horse trader discarded last summer.

George Leye is working for Gordon Davis.
