Mrs. W.L. Smith and little son Herbert set out Monday on a 3 month visit and sojourn in the west, going first to Prescott, Ariz., where they will visit at Fred Huntzicker’s and W.J. Eilert’s, thence home by way of Portland, Oregon, and a visit at John Stewart’s.

 

Mrs. W.A. Daehn and daughter Helma leave this week for Chicago for a few weeks visit.

 

Robert McCalvery visited at Merrillan between trains Saturday.

 

P.J. Tscharner of Greenwood was in the city on business Saturday.

 

Mrs. Kapellen celebrated her birthday Friday.  Many friends were present.  She received many beautiful presents.

 

Geo. L. Jacques was at Madison a few days last week.

 

Mrs. L. Ruddock and daughter Maude returned home Saturday after spending a few weeks at Waupaca and Fellows installation.

 

Mr. J.W. Van De Venter is holding Union Evangelistic meetings in the Presbyterian Church.  They will continue for two weeks.

 

Miss Julia Servaty is reported on the gain.

 

Val Volk, Frank Zetsche, W.H. Rossman, Elias Peterson, Peter Peterson, Ben Randalls and Albert Schwarze of Greenwood attended the Odd Fellows installation the the city Sat. eve.

 

F.J. Baer was a Neillsville caller Saturday.

 

H.W. Klopf returned home from Chicago Saturday.

 

Mrs. Julia Tifft is spending a few days at Merrillan visiting friends.

 

Miss Weatherby is here from Mauston visiting Miss Ethel Ring.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mick, who formerly lived at Edgar, have recently moved to Loyal.  Mr. Mick has secured a more lucrative position there.

 

Miss Jean Monroe of St. Paul, who arrived here 10 days since for a several weeks visit at the H.M. Root home was quite under the weather and confined to her bed the latter part of last week.  She is up and about and somewhat more comfortable now, though still far from well.

 

The principal excitement of Neillsville is shoveling snow.

 

Emery Crosby, Harry Hewett, S.M. Marsh committee on settlement with Co. officers began work Wednesday.

 

Beth and Viola Youmans left for Milwaukee Wednesday to attend school.

 

Mrs. C. Elkstrom of Manistique, Mich., is here on an extended visit with Mrs. Geo. Sontag.
