Pete Paulson of Marshfield was here on business on Monday.

Earl Marsh came down from Duluth late last week for a 10 days visit under the parental roof.

Chas Neinas installed a 4 ½ horsepower Paulson gasoline engine in his warehouse last week, to furnish power for grinding feed.

Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Rose came home Mon. evening from Plymouth where they had been on several weeks visit.

The Wm. Kurth and Clemens Kuechenmeister families were among those who enjoyed New Year’s dinner at Geo. Wilding’s on Monday.

Mrs. W. E. Davis went to St. Paul Wednesday for a week or ten days visit with her sister, Gertrude Kimball and other relatives there.

Paul Goebel and Gus Deutsch spent Sunday in Milwaukee.  They left for there Saturday night and returned Monday morning.

Dave Garbush and his wife Amelia celebrated their birthdays jointly on New Year’s Day.  Last Sunday the former had seen a half century of life while his wife had seen two score of years.  A large company of relatives and friends made the occasion a merry one.

Mrs. Gassow of Whitehall is here on an extended visit at Peter Jensen’s in Lynn.

Miss Mary Fisher of Marshfield came over last Friday and visited Miss Flora Kurzrok until Monday.

The Misses Flora Kurzrok and Mary Fischer spent Sat. with the former’s sister Mrs. Henry Braatz on the Ridge.

Vernon Wright and Leonard Cole after a ten days vacation visit at home returned on Monday to their business college studies at Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Brooks’ youngest child, a little girl is very ill with pneumonia since the latter part of the week.

Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Hohenstein of Washburn went to Eau Claire early last Friday morning where a few days later, Mrs. Hohenstein underwent an operation for appendicitis.

Roy Hart and his grandpa Chas Hart went to Humbird Saturday. Roy came home Wednesday while his grandpa remained or a two months visit.

Philmore Kemmeter, Vernon Wright, Leonard Cole, Asa Mahn, and Anton Ebson attended the military ball at Neillsville Friday night.

Mrs. Frances Burdick after a seven weeks visit with her daughter Mrs. C. E. Beeckler returned to her home at Seymour before Christmas.  Her departure escaped the eagle eye of the news monger.

Raymond Hornbeck we are reliably informed is and has been for several weeks past a married man, residing in the southern part of the state.

Mrs. Fred Hankey and little sons spent the first of the week at Geo. Wilding’s. The ladies are sisters.

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Jensen entertained some twenty-five neighbors and friends Tuesday night of last week in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lewis of Whitehall who were visiting them at that time.

Mike Hubing and Geo Beaver made the 11:15 a.m. train Wednesday to exchange greetings with Geo Hubing of Athens who passed thru here on that train.

F. W. Riedel and Wm. Reimer of Calumet County are here visiting the August Gotter and John Garbush families since Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm Sweeting and three sons came over from Marshfield Sunday on a several days visit at Henry Lawson’s.

The stockholders of the Farmers State Bank held their annual meeting last Tuesday night and elected the following directors: A. J. Knorr, J. J. Wright, C. C. Berg, Geo. A. Ure and Scott Davis.  Rob Kurth was re-elected president; J. P. Kintzele, vice president; W. S. Davis, cashier, and Hugh Berg, assistant cashier.

The basketball game last Sat. evening between Granton and a team from Marshfield resulted in a victory for our boys, the score being 17 to 5.  The fame was fast from start to finish and enjoyed by all who witnessed it.  Prof. Wells came over from Stevens Point on purpose to referee the game, which he did in a very able manner.
