Herman Keller is bemoaning the loss of his faithful dog.  For some parties who take pleasure in destroying other people’s property without thinking that they are staining their character, administered a dose of poison one day last week, and on Sunday the poor animal who was a pet of the household and was never known to harm anybody, expired.  What is going to become of this country when harmless dogs are slaughtered and curs. are allowed to roam unmolested, even though they appear sometimes in human form.  Mr. Keller is offering a ten dollar reward for information that will lead to the guilty parties. 
 

R. Nankivell says a hog is a hog and will always stay a hog.  One day last week as he was on his way to market or some other place with one of his hogs he, the hog, not Robert, became disgusted with his company and surroundings thought he would get off and walk.  But Robert became aware of his intentions and just as the porker had protruded through the end gate he took it in a fond embrace, but try as he would he could not hold this creature.  So as a last resort gave it a number ten broad side and started alone on his journey, but the faithful animal was game and followed his master to their destination without further trouble. 
 

Henry Conrad had the misfortune to lose a horse last Friday. 
 

Louis Knoop and his brother Frank are cutting bolts for Henry Retzlaff. 
 

Rev. Rathke of Maple Works drove out and christened the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sternitzky Monday.  The youngster will be known hereafter as Master Vance. 
 

August Lautenbach is going to move his saw mill on the old site as soon as there are sufficient logs to keep him going.  The place is on A. Sternitzky’s property where W. Moldenhauer has been sawing the past few years. 
 

Miss Lula Kleinschmidt after spending the holidays with her parents returned to her duties at Grand Rapids Tuesday morning. 
 

H. Dietrich took veal calves to Chili Tuesday morning. 
 

Among those who attended the christening at Louis Sternitzky’s Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Sternitzky and Mrs. John Garbush, also Oscar and Joseph Sternitzky accompanied by their best girls. 
 

If a lady should have the misfortune to break her knee she ought to go to Jerusalem that’s where the Shee-neys grow. 
 

Kind friends heed this warning,

Though your suit be tailor made,

You would look more becoming

If you’d patronized home trade.

And don’t go on a spree,

For a Beaver works the hardest
