Chili (20 January 1911)

Quite a number from here attended the school board convention at Neillsville. It was a very successful meeting in more than one sense of the word.  Mr. Larson and also Mr. Peterson the factory inspectors gave very good lectures, instructive to all those that are not above learning. Of course, there are always some people that know too much and could not be convinced with the most logical arguments. Among those in attendance was also the sage of Heathville.  In order to get home quicker he took a graceful jump from the caboose at Yolo Junction.  He landed in a snow bank to a depth of 12 feet, but according to latest reports managed to extricate himself and arrived home none the worse for his experience.  Oh yes, it is very interesting to take in the school board convention.

Frank Lowe is selling hay in Chili at present.  By the way, the hay market is __? __, to be over__? ___ by spring time, there are nearly 208 tons more on the way.

H. Montag commenced housekeeping for good Saturday and went to work again Monday.  He was honored with an up to date Charivari Saturday night.  Even the ladies turned out in goodly numbers and helped to cheer.

Wednesday night a wedding dance was given and the club meeting was held at the same time.

Omar Snow left Wednesday morning for his homestead in Washington. He had visited with his parents for about 3 weeks.

O. F. Sampe attended the cheesemakers convention at Milwaukee last week.  He returned Saturday.
