Mattes, Marlyn R. "Marlie" (27 AUG 1943 - 21 DEC 1999)

 

Marlyn "Marlie" Mattes, 56, Kevil, KY, formerly of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died Dec. 21, 1999 at Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, KY.

 

Marlyn Roy Mattes was born Aug. 27, 1943 at Thorp, WI to Philip and Elmira (Kuester) Mattes.  He was a 1961 graduate of Thorp High School.  He married Mary Beth Curtis at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in 1961.  25 years ago they moved to Kevil, KY, where he was an independent contractor.  He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles River City Series #3686.

 

Surviving are his mother Elmira Mattes, Thorp; his wife Mary Beth of Milwaukee; three sons: Mark of Milwaukee, Martin (Anna) of Coronado, CA, and Michael of Wauwatosa, WI; two daughters: Marsh Mattes of Milwaukee, Michelle (Duane) Grohall of Milwaukee; 8 grandchildren; two brothers: Philip and Donald Mattes, both of Thorp, and one sister, jean Winger of Cadott.

 

A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp with Rev. Robert Wilcken officiating.  Interment was in Sylvan Cemetery, Township of Reseburg, rural Thorp.  Visitation was one hour before the services at the church.
