Zillmann, Harold A. (1892? - 2 MAR 1958)

 

Word was received here today of the death of Harold A. Zillmann, 65, a former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), whose home was at Douglaston, Long Island, N.Y.

 

Mr. Zillmann died Sunday, March 2, 1958, in the Flushing, N.Y. Hospital of a heart ailment.

 

He worked with the New York Telephone Co. for 38 years and retired in 1956 after serving as district manager of the Flushing-Bayside-Forest Hills communities.  He was division supervisor in Brooklyn 20 years ago.

 

Born in Thorp, Wis., Mr. Zillmann attended the Thorp public school, Stout Institute at Menomonie and was graduated from Wisconsin University.  He served as a major during World War I and was air warden zone commander of the Bayside Precinct during World War II.

 

He was a former member of the Little Neck-Douglaston Kiwanis Club, the Flushing Chamber of Commerce and the Queens Chamber of Commerce.  He belonged to the Douglas Manor Association.

 

Mr. Zillmann is survived by his widow, Marion; a daughter, Mrs. James Roach, who was women’s editor of the Star-Journal before her marriage to Mr. Roach, assistant sports editor of the New York Times; a sister, Mrs. Steven Polkinghorn of Littleton, Colo., and two granddaughters.

 

Funeral services and interment took place on March 6th in Flushing.
