Hart, Bert E. (21 January 1880 - April 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the Bergemann Funeral Home for Bert E. Hart, 83, who died in Sacramento, Cal.  The Rev. W.C. Koehler of the United Church of Christ officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Hart was born January 21, 1880, in Neillsville, and was a graduate of Neillsville High School.  He attended the University of Wisconsin and was a member of the varsity football team.

 

He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War.

 

He was married to Ethel M. McLeon on January 27, 1910, in Reno, Nev.  Mr. Hart left for California 56 years ago and had been an employee of the Pacific Telephone Company.  In 1917, he became manager of the Delta Telephone Company and later became its president.  He retired in 1961, when his company was sold.

 

He was a member of the Sutter Club; the J. Holland Laider Camp, No. 5, United Spanish-American War Veterans; the Independent Telephone Pioneers Club; and Lodge No. 675 of Elks at Portage.

 

His wife survives him.

 

Pallbearers were: Herbert L. Brown, Wm. A. Campman, William Ruchaber, E. H. Snyder, Dave Parry and Joseph Zimmerman.

 

Out-of-town people here for the service were the widow, Mrs. Bert Hart of Sacramento, Cal.; Mrs. M. R. Newstadt of San Mateo, Cal.; Mrs. Marjori Vigelio, Sacramento, Cal.; and Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Smith of Altoona.
