Metcalf, Elsie (16 October 1905 - April 1963)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Kenneth Metcalf, 57, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, were held Wednesday afternoon from the United Church of Christ.  The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated, with burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mrs. Metcalf the former Elsie Rhead, was born October 16, 1905, in Alma Center. She was the daughter of the late William and Flora (Endicott) Rhead.  The Rhead family moved to the Neillsville area when Mrs. Metcalf was eight years old.

 

She attended Clark County schools and on March 11, 1925, was married to Kenneth Metcalf in Neillsville. Since that time they had farmed in the Town of York. (Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf just recently celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary.)

 

She is survived by her husband and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Tom (Alice) Krejci, Willard; Mrs. Andrew (Opel) Spangler, Beloit; Mrs. Vern (Myrtle) Schoonover of South Beloit, Ill.; Oakley, John and Richard Rhead, all of Beloit; and Elwin Rhead of Sac City, Ia.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were: William Diercks, William Roehl, James Nozar, George Buddinger, Arnold Halle and Lisle Armitage.

 

Mrs. W. C. Koehler, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott, sang "Abide with Me" and "Asleep in Jesus".

Rhead of Lake Mills; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kerman of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Basil Burnett, Hixton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meyer of Merrillan; Mrs. Elmer Kapfer, Mrs. Ethel Holt and Mrs. Merton Holt, of Granton; Mrs. Perle Pickett of Humbird.
