Funeral services for Harley Quelle were conducted by Rev. Theodore Predoehl at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Withee on Saturday at 2 p.m., on Aug. 2, 1958, with burial at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Mr. Quelle had been suffering from carcinoma of the lung and passed away at his home in the town of Hixon, Withee on Tuesday July 29th, 1958.  Up until a few weeks before his death he had been employed as operating engineer of highway construction.

 

He was born at West Burlington, Iowa on Jan. 28, 1906 and had thus reached the age of 52 years, 6 months and 1 day.

 

When 16 years old he moved with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Quelle, to make their home at Thorp, Wis.

 

After his marriage to Dora Doege, which took place at Stillwater, Minn. on Sept. 3, 1930, they made their home at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) and at Stanley for some years before moving to their present home at Withee.

 

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Dawn (Mrs. John Izewski of Franklin Park, Ill., Doreen at home and five sons, Clarence of Sulphur, La., Richard of Withee, Ronald, Rodney and Randy at home.  Two grandchildren, John Gregory and Debra Dawn Izewski, also two brothers, Harry of Thorp and Roy of Greenwood, and two sisters, Emily of Thorp and Grace (Mrs. Martin Du Kovan of Milwaukee.

 

Mrs. Izewski had been to visit her father recently but was unable to attend his funeral, as she had just returned home from the hospital on Sunday with a new daughter.

 

Clarence Quelle of Sulphur, La. was also unable to attend his father’s funeral, but had just been to visit him a few days previous to his death.

 

Serving as pallbearers were six nephews: Gerald Quelle, Roy Quelle of Rochester, Minn., and Alvin Quelle of Withee, David Du Koven of Milwaukee, Harold Doege of Thorp, and Patrick Telford of Milwaukee.

 

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were: John Izewski, Franklin Park, Ill., Mrs. Martin Du Koven and daughter Judy, , Mr. and Mrs. David Du Koven and Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Telford of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Delzell and Roger Schoell of West Burlington, Iowa, Mr. Reinhold Doege, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Graham of Eau Claire, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Donald Darge, Racine, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Keller and Eileen Keller, Curtiss, Wis., George, Henry and Alfred Russell, Butternut, Wis., Mrs. Fred Dettmering, Medford, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Quelle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kind Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Herman Doege and family, all of Greenwood, Wis., Roy Quelle Jr. of Rochester, Minn., Harry and Emily Quelle, Arthur Jacques, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Burzynski, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Dulek, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Doege, Mrs. Clara Douel, Ray Telford, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Doege, all of Thorp, Mr. and Mrs. Max Simek of Gilman, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Johnson and daughter Carol of Owen.
