It is easy enough to catch on, but it’s sometimes quite difficult to let go.

Down in Texas a man lived nine days with his neck broken.  That’s nothing, here in Wisconsin a man lived 10 days with his mother-in-law.

Now that the Granton News has at least one dozen correspondents, we are of the opinion that we for one, I, myself and Heathville will try to get a few corner binds and hold our tongue and pencil in check and at the same time keep an open eye and a listening ear on the oncoming street parade.  The old saying is that a barking dog doesn’t bite, but who can tell what he is going to do when he stops barking?

The next time Jake Henning goes to the legislature he will introduce a bill with the intention of doing some public good.  The bill provides that each person born or naturalized in the U.S. should be with beer and liquor licenses, and upon entering a saloon must show their license to the bartender who may then grant their request.  The bill also further provides that the town board should have authority to grant each individual this license at their annual meeting. Ah, Jake, you’re a jackass.

Relatives and friends gathered at the Charley Balke home on Saturday of last week and helped him celebrate his 47th birthday anniversary.  An elegant supper and refreshments were served by the visitors.  He was presented with birthday gifts of various nature, including one dozen of A. No. 1 dining room chairs.

Mr. Nate Drake and wife and their son Earl have returned from Washington and all are llking well.

Reet Peck has returned from Maplehurst and is at present staying with Abel Harding.

Last Tuesday afternoon Fred Carpenter sold his 40 acre farm to Nate Drake.  Consideration $2800, which includes some personal property.  Nate is to take possession at once.  Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter are and have been of good neighborly type and we wish them success and happiness in their future home.  They have lived some 25 years in this neighborhood and they have the good will of all who know them.  It is said they will move to Neillsville this week.
