Chili (9 June 1910)

A few days without rain seem to be nice. We have had some terrible storms, in appearance as well as in result. Friday night’s shower did some damage to John Lindow’s house, killing a cow for Paul Bealer and a calf for Reuben Fields.  Monday night it did the most damage around here, setting fire to and burning the just finished T barn of Wm. Neinas, 2 miles south of here.  It is a big loss to Will as it destroyed his expensive medicine wagon with about $200 worth of medicine, and other machinery including a gasoline engine.

A beautiful day it was Tuesday when Miss Katy Martens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Martens, hotel and saloon keeper of this village, was joined in wedlock to Mr. John Bladl a prosperous business man of our sister village, Granton.

Herman Garbisch of Heathville bought a new spring tooth cultivator Wednesday.

Don’t forget the 4th of July celebration at Chili this year.  It will be worth your while to come and take it in, as no trouble and pains will be spared to make it a success.

In order to make room, Degener will sell his remaining open and top-buggies which are up-to-date and first class quality at a very low figure.  Now is the time to buy if you are in need of any.

Mr. A. W. Wendorf enjoys the visit of his father and mother who arrived Monday.  They will remain with him for a week or more.

Chas and Will Bealer having finished their carpenter work at Granton are doing some work now for Mr. Wendorf.

White rock cement plaster and electric weld woven wire at Degener’s, also Acme Binders and Mowers, not in the trust.

For Sale - A registered Shropshire Ram; inquire at farm of A. Rueth at Heathville.
