Mauel, Henry B. Jr. (3 JAN 1928 - 25 NOV 2011)

 

Henry B. Mauel, Jr., age 83, of Owen, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. A time of visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Henry was born Jan. 3, 1928 to Henry and Elnora (Berg) Mauel Sr. in Marshfield. He graduated from Owen High School in 1946 and joined the U.S.Army where he was stationed in Japan after World War II. 

Henry married the former Amy Ammentorp on June 3, 1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen.

He went on to dairy school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison after service. Henry came back to Owen and worked for his dad at Mauel Dairy and took over the business in 1960. Selling the business to his son John in 1993 and continued to work until 2004. 

Hank was a member of the Marian Council of the Knights of Columbus, past president of the Holy Rosary Church Council, Owen Junior Fair Board and past president of the Meadowview Country Club, Owen Kiwanis Club and a 60-year member of the Owen American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling, the morning coffee club at Cozy Corner, and playing cards especially with his grandchildren. 

Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years Amy; 13 children, William (Mary) Mauel of Eagle Lake, Minn., Peter (Terri) Mauel of Berlin, Tom Mauel of Menomonie, Carol (Les) Wickboldt of Clayton, Linda (John) Burgan, of Grafton, Susan German of Marshfield, John Mauel of Owen, Jim Mauel of Owen, Ann (Kevin) Miner of Clear Lake, Mike (Karrie) Mauel of Appleton, Mark Mauel of Green Bay, Nancy (Jeff) Taylor of Colfax, Julie (Gerard) Bush of Scottsdale, Ariz..; 25 grandchildren, Craig (Britt) German, Dan (Shana) German, Nick (Ann Marie) German, Ellie (Kevin) Hartman, Angie German, Nathan Mauel, David (Jennifer) Mauel, Aaron Wickboldt, Kristian Mauel, Joshua Burgan, Gretchen (Hao) Nguyen, Brian Wickboldt, Rachel Burgan, Lucas Burgan, Mitchell Miner, Amber Miner, Ben Miner, Jared Taylor, Ross Taylor, Courtney Bush, Katelyn Mauel, Gavin Bush, Phil Taylor, Connor Mauel, Ethan Bush; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Mauel; sisters, Eleanore Mauel, Germaine Shreve, Alice Mauel, Irene Lehnen and Rosalie Koenig.
