Burkhardt, Marlene (13 OCT 1959)

Miss Marlene Burkhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burkhardt, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Louis F. Schumacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis F. Schumacher Sr., Stanley, were married Saturday, Oct. 13, 1959 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here.  Officiating was the Rev. H.J. Hoffmann.

Tissue Taffeta trimmed in alencon lace fashioned the floor length bridal gown.  The fitted bodice featured a Sabrina neckline and long tapered sleeves.  A pearl trimmed taffeta cloche held the bride’s silk illusion veil and she carried a white orchid with white and blue mums.

Miss Janice Jacques of Marshfield was maid of honor.  Janice Schumacher and Ann Vanderhyden were bridesmaids, and Julie Burkhardt, sister of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.  All were attired in cotillion blue velvet and chiffon dresses, street length, styled with modified scoop necklines and crushed cummerbunds.  Their pearl trimmed crowns had circular veils.  All carried blue mums.

Attending the groom were Duane Van Ert, Charles Schneller and Robert Benzschawel.

A dinner for 90 guests was served at noon.  The reception from 2 to 5 p.m. in St. Bernard’s Hall was attended by 300 guests.

Mrs. Burkhardt attended her daughter’s wedding in an olive green dress with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow roses and bronze mums.  The groom’s mother wore a blue dress with black accessories and a corsage of red and white roses.

The newlyweds will reside at 933 W. Montana Ave., St. Paul, where the groom is a draftsman for Paper Calmonson Steel Corp.
