Mrs. Fred Gerber has recovered from her recent serious illness.

 

Mrs. Frank Root went home to Rudolph on Wednesday.

 

Leland Davis went to Osseo with the bridge crew Wednesday.

 

Sheriff Harry Hewett drove through here on official business on Monday.

 

The August Schmoll residence property is being improved with a fine new woodshed.

 

A new plank walk was laid in front of the Dr. Schwartz residence property.

 

Ed Royce and family from near Marshfield spent Sunday with the E.R. Wonser family.

 

Mrs. Mot Osgood and children visited at Herman Roehl’s in Chili Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Dan Gluch Jr. spent Wednesday with her husband at the Marshfield hospital.

 

County Judge O.W. Schoengarth and District Attorney W.J. Rush were in town Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Paul Roder and sister Miss Emma Hillert spent Wednesday with friends at Neillsville.

 

Carl Roder is visiting his daughter Christine, Mrs. Henry Stearns, at Duluth, since last week.

 

Miss Pearl Davis of Marshfield spent Sunday at the Wm. Benedict home in York.

 

C.E. Bolles of Eau Claire, the blind piano tuner, was here on professional business early this week.

 

The garage of Knorr & Rausch is fast nearing completion.  The masons finished their work this week.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Webb Winn returned home last week from their visit at Cassville, Sparta and La Crosse.

 

Wm. Klein and Chris Gerzemehle returned home last week from their visit at Mike Hubing’s in Athens.  Mr. Gerzemehle left on Wednesday for Owatonna, Minn. for an extended visit among relatives there.

 

L.E. Moh made the last official test of the season during the week from May 22 to May 28 Incl.  With no other feed but grass, with day rains almost every day, these cows did not do themselves justice.  They will be tested under more favorable conditions.  Results are as follows:

  - Aaltje Salo Mechthilide, 6 years old, milk 456 lbs., butter 19.312 lbs., max mils 66.9 lbs.

  - Edelwild Pride Johanna, 25 months old, milk 323 lbs., butter 11.87 lbs., Max mile 49.8 lbs.

 

Ed Soles is again at the Marshfield hospital and underwent another operation there Tuesday morning.  Mrs. Soles is with him.

 

Miss Pearl Beeckler will entertain the O.E.S. Birthday Club next Wednesday afternoon.  All visiting O.E.S. are welcome.

 

Mrs. Haltafderheide and two youngest children came home Wednesday evening from a couple of weeks visit at Two Rivers.

 

Miss Mollie Grasser, after a year’s absence at Medical Lake, Wash., is enroute home to Granton.  She is visiting relatives and old friends ont eh way.

 

Mrs. Frank Lavey and son Neil left on a two week visit at Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha and other places on Thursday.

 

Miss Laura Breseman went to Altoona Wednesday for an extended visit with her sister, Mrs. Richard Anding.

 

Mrs. W.S. Davis and Miss Emma Kimball are visiting relatives and friends in Minneapolis since Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Will Kurth and two children came home on Wednesday from a several days visit with rleatives at Clintonville.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Galbreath went to Marshfield Thursday to consult a physician in regard to Mr. Galbreath’s health.  It is feared he is suffering with Bright’s disease.

 

Mrs. Lipke and daughter Hermia, after a week’s visit at Henry Yankee’s, went home to Richland Center yesterday.

 

Mrs. Howard Wentworth of Winona, Minn., and Mrs. J.E. Wentworth of Edgerton, arrived here Thursday morning on a several days visit with Mr. and Mrs. Rush Wentworth.

 

The road north of the village between the bride and Ell Lee’s corners is now in passable condition under the supervision of road commissioner Wm. Thoma.

 

August Wegner of Neillsville, Mrs. Henry Garbisch and Mrs. Dan Gluch Sr. spent Thursday at the Marshfield hospital with Dan Gluch Jr.

 

Aug. Roder and family drove out from Neillsville Sunday and enjoyed the day with old friends at a picnic.

 

Geo. Nichols was severely injured while leading a vicious cow Wednesday evening and becoming entangled in the rope and being dragged by the creature.  A physician was called to attend him.

 

Pete Paulson and family of Neillsville, with his mother from Nasonville and his sister Miss Lettie who was home from Chicago, visited Granton friends and relatives on Sunday.

 

Dan Donahue of Fond du Lac, a former well-known Granton boy, passed through here Wednesday with his bride of a few days enroute to Minneapolis.

 

The Children’s Day celebration in Rev. Reiff’s parish last Sunday attracted an unusually large crowd.  The day was cool and bright, the grounds dry, the program most interesting, and the dinner the best ever.  It was an education, financial and social success, materially benefiting all fortunate enough to have been present.
