Ed Davis and wife came up from Lake Mills Tuesday and made an overnight stay at Wm. Benedict’s.  They went to Marshfield Wednesday for a visit at Jerry Davis’.  Susie Benedict and children returned to Marshfield with them.

 

Mrs. Dejmek was taken suddenly ill Wednesday morning.  Dr. Ross was summoned and has been in attendance since.  At this writing she is able to be up again.

 

Mrs. Wm. Rowe was laid up the past week with a lame back.

 

Claude Mills closed school in Dist. No. 1 Saturday with a picnic in Mr. Ferris’ woods. There was a large crowd out and all enjoyed it.

 

Julius Voight cemented his basement on Wednesday.

 

Bell Mortimer went to Marshfield Thursday for a visit with her parents.

 

Eleven of Leta Lawrence’s little friends dropped in on her Friday to give her a pleasant surprise.  The occasion was her fifth birthday anniversary.  They all had a good time.

 

John Lastofka and family were out Friday evening trying their new Ford touring car which they purchased of Knorr & Rausch.

 

Abie Turner and Melvin Lawrence did some carpenter work for Fred Tyler last week.

 

Pearl Pease has finished her work at Chas. Brooks’ and came home Saturday.

 

Floy Huntley is enjoying the  La Grippe.

 

R.E. Lawrence and family, and Miss Helen Davis, who is here on a visit from Greenwood, attended the dance at Wierenzenski’s Friday evening.

 

We had a hard hail storm Sunday night which did a lot of damage to the oat crop and broke quite a few windows in this vicinity.

 

F.W. Draper occupied the M.E. pulpit Sunday afternoon in Rev. Alderson’s place.  Phronia Castner and Ernest Rogers came down from Loyal with Mr. Draper and attended service.

 

Al Nonhof, wife and son Glen, and Mr. and Mrs. Tremelling and sons autoed over in the former’s auto and attended services Sunday afternoon.

 

W.L. Smith is building a telephone line through this vicinity to Granton.  They began operation Friday.

 

John Vande Berg, wife and son Horace and daughter Ruth autoed up and spent Sunday at the Wm. Fenhouse home in Spencer.

 

Merton Davis is working for Jesse Mortimer.
