Ammentorp, Evald #3 (2 AUG 1892 - 6 MAR 1961)

 

Residents of the Owen and Withee communities were saddened and surprised when they learned of the death of Evald Ammentorp, prominent Town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) farmer, Monday.

 

He succumbed to a heart attack which he suffered late Sunday night and was then moved to St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he passed away Monday morning.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o’clock this afternoon from Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee.  The parish pastor, Rev. Byrl Knudsen, will officiate, with burial being made in the family lot in the parish cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Alfred and Christ Frost, Sigurd Sorensen, Harold Christensen, Victor Jessen, and Tony Jensen.  In charge of the floral offerings will be Mesdames Alfred and Christ Frost, Harold Christensen and Anna Sorensen.

 

Evald Ammentorp was 68 eyars of age, being born Aug. 2, 1892, in Denmark.  He came to the United States as a young man and served with the armed forces in World War I.  During these many years he has been a successful and prominent farmer in the Town of Longwood, in addition to being an active member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church and the American Legion.

 

His passing is mourned by his wife, the former Caroline Damjaard, who he was wed to on May 14, 1920, in Nebraska; four sons, Roy, Milwaukee, Ray, Medford, James, Eau Claire, and Marvin, Withee; three daughters, Mrs. Rodger (Ruth) Wolfram, Eau Claire, Mrs. Henry (Marion) Haas, Thorp, and Mrs. Henry (Amy) Mauel, Owen; one brother, Thorvald of Withee; one sister, Magna Ammentorp of Grand Forks, N.D., and 23 grandchildren.
