Bogue, Jay A. (4 NOV 1879 - 9 MAR 1961)

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon for Jay Almous Bogue who succumbed to a stroke March 9, 1961, which he suffered earlier in the day at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield where he had been hospitalized just a few days.

 

Services were conducted from the Alliance Church with Rev. James Stone officiating.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Elmer and Ray Dearth, C.E. Beck, Harris Johnson, Glenn Buchanan and Harold Frey.

 

Born Nov. 4, 1879 at Custer, Mich. the deceased was 81 years, 4 months and 5 days of age at the time of his passing to eternity.  On Feb. 2, 1903 he married Olive Hilden at Ludington, Mich.  The couple came to Wisconsin in 1907, living first at Owen for five years previous to moving to Withee, where he had since made his home.  During the 54 years he resided in this community he was employed for 25 years by the John S. Owen Lumber Co.  In late years, despite his advanced years, he had always remained active.

 

His passing is mourned by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. George (Leotia) Gerber, Watseka, Ill., Mrs. Harold (Edna) Koplitz, Curtiss, and Mrs. Robert (Cecile) Hodd, Abbotsford; one son, Harold of Watseka, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. John (Essie) Brevont, Rossville, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
