Hermanson, Marcus #2 (15 FEB 1879 - 26 MAR 1961)

 

Marcus Hermanson, a resident of the Town of Hoard and Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) communities for the past 49 years, succumbed to complications of old age when he passed away Sunday at the Havenet Nursing Home, Owen, where he had been cared for the past several months.  He was 82 years, 1 month and 11 days of age.

 

Funeral services were held at 2:00 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, March 28, from the Lutheran Church at Curtiss, with Rev. Robert Olson officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  Mssrs. Albert Bakke, Gust Becken, Art Thompson, Cornel Erickson, Joe Hiebsch and John Lokken served as pallbearers.  During the church service vocal selections were sung by Bunee Kraut and Judy Laabs accompanying here on the organ.

 

Marcus Hermanson was born Feb. 15, 1879 in Norway, coming to this country 21 years later in 1900.  At that time he settled in the Longwood community, serving as manager of the Withee Stock and Dairy Farm from 1907 until 1912.  On Dec. 4, 1909, eh exchanged wedding vows with the former Seine Bjergaard in a ceremony performed at Eau Claire.  In 1912 the couple purchased a farm in the Town of Hoard where they resided and famed until their retirement in 1943, when they moved in the village of Curtiss.

 

In 1951 Mrs. Hermanson preceded him in death.  His passing is now mourned by two sons, Arvi and Henry of Brooks, Ind., and a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Martha Laabs, Tomah, Wis., seven grandchildren plus a wide host of friends whom he gained during the many years he resided in this community.
