Preston, Emma (13 April 1882 - 21 November 1963)

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon from the Neillsville Theater for Mrs. Charles (Emma) Preston, 81, of Colby, who died last Thursday in the Havenett Nursing Home in Owen.  Peter Hunter of Madison officiated at the service. Burial was made in the Garden City, Minn. cemetery.

 

Mrs. Preston, the former Emma Nelsen, was born April 13, 1882, in Wisner, Nebr.  She attended schools there and later lived in Minnesota.  In 1960 the family moved to Colby.

 

She is survived by her husband; a son, Charles Preston of Appleton; a sister, Mrs. Kathryne Martin of Fergus Falls, Minn.; and a brother, Charles Nelsen of Fergus Falls, Minn.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral home.

 

Singers were Bythis Gasser of Berlin, Bertha Magsen of Rice Lake, and Doris Bloemker of Madison. They were accompanied by L. Swenson of Madison.  Hymns sung were, "Blessed Homeland" and "We Would see Jesus."

 

Attending the funeral from away were Charles F. Preston of Colby; Charles Preston and Charles Marrison of Appleton; Peter Hunter of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Elliot and daughter; Mrs. Anna Nelson and Floyd Nelson of Minneapolis, Minn.  Approximately 150 others from this area attended.
