Quast, Anna (22 October 1877 - 22 November 1963)

 

Funeral services are to be held Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe for Mrs. Anna J. Quast, 86, of Neillsville, who died Friday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zickert. The Rev. David Witte, pastor of Immanuel Church, is to officiate.  Burial will be made in the church cemetery.

 

Mrs. Quast, the former Anna Steinberg, was born October 22, 1877, in Germany.  She came to America with her parents, the late Frederick and Johanna (Golz) Steinberg, when she was eight years old. The family located on a farm in the Town of Weston.

 

On January 13, 1898, she was married to Louie Quast, who died in 1924 (1954?).  Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Quast made her home with her children for the past nine years, and for the last 2 years had resided in Neillsville.

 

Surviving are seven children.  They are: Mrs. Elsie Halle of Fond du Lac; Henry Quast of Alma Center; Mrs. Helen Grey of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Frank (Bertha) Zickert of Neillsville; Mrs. Gustave (Martha) Belter of Eau Claire; Martin Quast of West Allis; and Frederick Quast of Neillsville.  Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Emma Hauge of King, Mrs. Bertha Scheffler of Custer, Mich., and Mrs. Theresa Foster of Marshfield; two brothers, Otto Steinberg of Neillsville and Albert Steinberg of Fargo, N. D.; also surviving are thirty-one grandchildren, 72 (?) great grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

 

The body was to be taken from the Georgas Funeral Home at 1 p.m. to the Immanuel Lutheran Church to lie in state until time of services.

Funeral services were conducted November 27 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe for Mrs. Anna J. Quast, 86, of Neillsville who died November 22 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zickert of Neillsville. The Rev. David Witte officiated and burial was made in the church cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Leo and Herman Hemp, Martin and Hans Kalsow, August Janke and Richard Hagedorn.

 

The church choir sang, "Asleep in Jesus" and the congregation sang, "For Me to Live in Jesus", accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wegner.

D.; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Quast of Whitewater; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Heinmann and family of Marshall; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Pinno, Ed Heney and Maryian Pinno of Rosendale; Marce Foster of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Cram, Ernest H. Cram and Pat Cram of Oshkosh; John Quast, US Army, Ft. Knox, Ky.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schoenherr of Stratford; Miss Ruth Schoenherr of Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson of Loyal; Harry Kueltz of Neillsville; Edward Kalsow of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Sisson of Greenwood; and Vernon foster of Wausau.
