Hammond, Charles (4 September 1898 - 8 March 1964)

 

Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) forenoon at 11 a.m. from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton, for Charles Hammond, 87, of Granton, who died Sunday in Neillsville, the Rev. V. C. Benecke of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.  Burial will be made in the Fancy Creek Cemetery in Richland Center.

 

Mr. Hammond was born December 25, 1876, in Richland County.  On September, 4, 1898, he was married to the former Carah C. Brown in Bloom City. She preceded him in death.

 

They lived on a farm in Richland County until 1921, when they moved to Clark County, locating on a farm near Christie. They later moved to Granton.

 

He is survived by four sons: George of Loyal, Clarence of West Carrollton, O., John and Fred of Granton; and by two daughters, Mrs. Otto (Ruby) Sletten of Cashton, and Mrs. Martin (Ruth) Garbisch of Granton. Other survivors are 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
