Mrs. Homer King spent Tuesday at Chili.

 

Mrs. Henry Timmer left for her home at Waldo Friday.

 

Miss Edna Kemmeter is home from Menasha.

 

Miss Anna Hanson is working for Mrs. Gus Bergeman. 

 

Miss Laura Neitzel is sewing for Mr. H. C. Witte.

Milton Huntley and George King were at Chili Tuesday, on business.

 

Mrs. Graham of Unity came down Wednesday to visit Mrs. Etta Grebes.

 

Neil Downer went to Wausau Wednesday to attend a Ginseng Growers convention.

 

C. D. Stockwell and family of St. James, Minn., spent Tuesday at F. J. Baer’s.

 

The W.S. Davis family came home from their Dells Dam cottage Monday.

 

Crab apples and other big apples at Witte’s; 50c a bushel

 

Mrs. Fred Cole came home last week from a several weeks visit with relatives at Minneapolis.

 

Miss Lillian McGinnis of St. Paul spent Friday here with Mrs. Kearney Davis.

 

Mrs. Aug. Schmoll and daughter Norma spent Friday night with friends at Neillsville.

 

Mrs. Chas Babcock of Neillsville and her daughter Mrs. Wm. Wallace and two children of Stevens Point spent Friday here at Ed Schroeder’s.

 

Mrs. Frances Smith came home from Stevens Point where she had been attending summer school, Friday evening.

 

David Steele’s new residence is fast nearing completion.

 

Mrs. John Bladl visited relatives at Chili on Wednesday.

 

W. D. Rose transacted business at the county seat on Tuesday.

 

Wm. Tischer of Pine Valley spent Sunday at Adolph Schlinsog’s.

 

Rev. Lange of Watertown was a guest at the Rev. Reiff home last week.

 

A little son put in his appearance at Fred Lichte’s at Lynn, Wednesday morning.

 

For canning corn use Mrs. Price’s Canning Compound; for sale at Amidon’s Drug Store

 

Miss Laura Gerzemehle after a 5 days’ visit at Minneapolis, came home last Friday.  She is suffering with an infection in her right arm.

 

Inventory is over with at Witte’s; many odds and ends at nearly your own prices to close.

 

Mrs. Wm Sweeting of Marshfield spent Tuesday and Wednesday here between the Geo. J. and W. D. Rose homes.

 

I will ship cattle, calves and hogs from Neillsville and Granton Aug. 15; M. Lastofka

 

Mrs. I. W. Morris returned home from St. Paul Tuesday night. She left Miss Elinor recovering nicely.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Felzer were at Marshfield Tuesday to visit Mrs. Felzer’s sister who is ill and at the hospital there.

 

The Misses Victoria and Margaret Pierrelee came home from Milwaukee last week. They recently visited their brother Victor at Ashland.

 

Miss Nettie Berg came home from Wausau Friday evening, accompanied by a friend, one Mrs. Olson of that place, for a visit.

 

Ross Paulson is home from South Dakota with a carload of fine young horses and colts, since Sunday.

 

Fred Davis will ship cattle and calves next Monday.

 

Harold Rose and Eddie Dennis left for Sycamore, Ill. Tuesday.

 

The Misses Susan and Emma Schune returned to Milwaukee Tuesday.

 

Joe Hotschke and Will Dankemyer expect to leave for Canada today.

 

Mrs. Noble Downer has been under the doctor’s care since early this week.

 

The Granton team defeated Nasonville by a score of 11 to 1 at the ballgame Sunday afternoon.

 

The Misses Ethel Stockwell, Mary Rude and Alice Neverman were over from Neillsville and enjoyed the harvest dance Saturday night. 

 

Mrs. John Simons and Mrs. Wm. Goeden of Neillsville spent Tuesday here with Mrs. George Beaver.

 

Mrs. Eibergen, who is engaged with housework at the John Pietenpol home, attended church at Chili on Wed.

 

Chas Neinas and Geo. Rose drove to Bethel Sunday and came back next day with the Harry Ober household goods.

 

Miss Alma Riedel went to Athens Tuesday for a two weeks stay and visit with her sister Mrs. Emil Hubing.

 

A miscellaneous shower of household articles of the useful and beautiful combination was tendered Miss Martha Burdick now Mrs. Louis Sternitzky at the Albert Sternitzky home Sunday evening.

 

Alvin Reichert left here Wednesday noon for Chicago.  He will be absent several weeks visiting at various Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin points.

 

George, Bernice and Eugene Stockwell, and Marie Spearbeck, the latter of Marshfield are visiting Helene Baer since Tuesday.

 

The George and Fred Hart families autoed to Humbird Sunday night and after reaching Dells Dam a heavy shower was encountered and continued with them through to their journey’s end.

 

We keep mace, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, black and white pepper, ginger, celery seed, turmeric, curry powder, white mustard and all spices and flavoring extracts and remember if you get them at Amidon’s they are the best made.

 

Miss Bertha Worchel came home Saturday from Eau Claire.  She expects now to remain with Mr. and Mrs. Wm Schlinsog the balance of the summer.

 

Rev. Reiff will go to Clintonville next Sunday where he is to preach at a Missionsfest in Rev. Moench’s congregation.  Reading services will be held here in the forenoon.

 

The annual Missionsfest of Rev. Reiff’s congregation will be held Sunday, August 27. Speakers will be Rev. Ohlragge of Seymour and Rev. A. Koepp, Wausau.

Each year the poultry business is becoming more lucrative in the community.  The old hen is getting worth her weight in gold.

 

This paper is anxious each week, to issue a spicy and interesting local page. If each of our subscribers would hand in one news item, what a newsy paper we could issue. Try it for a few weeks and mark the change.

 

Ed Riedel came back from Milwaukee and early this week rented Miss Anna Hankey’s farm.  Miss Hankey will leave for Chicago and take charge of the Liebenstein home and children during Mr. and Mrs. Liebenstein’s absence abroad.

 

Secretary Cranefield of the State Horticultural Society estimates the 1911 apple crop in Wisconsin at 250,000 bushels.  Between 75,000 and 100,000 barrels will reach the large markets, the remainder sold locally or consumed by growers.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Russ Renne of Nasonville spent Sunday with Mrs. John Rausch.

 

Philmore Kemmeter and Arthur Stallman autoed to Camp Douglas Saturday morning, where they visited friends, returning Tuesday evening.

 

Henry Winter came home Wednesday evening from a visit to Sheboygan County relatives and friends.

 

Chas Neinas and family drove out to Nasonville Tuesday and attended the Bealer-Grobe wedding.

 

Mr. Willie Bealer and Miss Lena Grobe both of Nasonville were married at the German Lutheran Church in Fremont at 3 o’clock Tuesday afternoon.

 

One of Frank Lavey’s grain stacks was struck by lightning Sunday night and burned to the ground. Mr. Lavey wishes to thank the neighbors for their efforts to save the other stacks.

 

Otto Schroeder drove up Tuesday with his mother who took the noon train for Neillsville on a few days visit among friends at that place.

 

Geo Huff has taken up his abode at Hotel Bradford since Tuesday morning and we understand he will remain there about 30 days.  Whiskey did it!

 

Mrs. Phair and son Robin came back from Milwaukee last week accompanied by Dorothy Churchill.  Dorothy went to Neillsville Tuesday to visit her maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. B. Dangers.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Paulson and two children and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Paulson and daughter and Miss Clara Johnson were over from Nasonville and spent Tuesday between the Ross Paulson and Dan Rausch families.

 

Mrs. Rice Davis came over from Bethel Monday and remained until Wednesday putting the Harry Ober household goods into their home and getting the place ready for her parents’ occupancy.  P. J. Kemmeter autoed on to Bethel Wednesday and brought Mrs. Ober over.  Harry came by rail last Saturday.

 

The Mesdames Solon Davis, Albert Mabie, Eva Canfield, Olney Johnson, Dan Starks, C. A. Guth, the Misses Lulu Beecher, Ora and Mariah Davis were Neillsville visitors Tuesday.
