Dave Garbush made a business trip to Neillsville Tuesday.

 

Ben Stubbs came home on Tuesday, from Fairchild.

 

Miss Lena Davis of Shortville is spending the week with Mrs. Felzer.

 

Get your stationery supplies at Amidon’s Drug Store.

 

L. A. Marsh enjoyed a few hours at Neillsville Monday in the dentist’s chair.

 

Miss Ruby Winn has charge of the confectionery and ice cream parlors, since Sunday.

 

Miss Anna Handt after a five days vacation and visit here returned to Minneapolis on Monday.

 

Miss Theresa Lautenbach and little sister were over Sunday guests of relatives hereabouts.

 

Miss Gladys Wage went to Duluth Saturday on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Norma Pierce.

 

Floyd Winn bought a heavy work team of young Percherons of his dad, last week.

 

Arthur Stallman went to Eau Claire Tuesday.  He expects to be absent at least 2 months.

 

Arthur Garbush after a visit at his grandpa Hillert’s left for his home at Stratford, Tuesday.

 

John Short and little grandson Arthur Wright were guests at Ed Schroeder’s Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Mary Schune came home Tuesday from a 5 days visit with Mrs. Manes at Neillsville.

 

Miss Clara Hubing left for Milwaukee Tuesday where she will spend some time in a wholesale millinery house, then go to Brandon to trim during the coming season.

 

Charles Brooks went to Marshfield Tuesday.

 

Rev. Reiff and family went to Lebanon last Monday.

 

Wm. Huntley Jr. transacted business here on Wednesday.

 

Mrs. E. A. Beeckler entertained the Circle Wednesday.

 

Mrs. E. Turner of Chicago was a guest in the W. S. Davis home a couple days this week.

 

The Dan Rausch family with Mrs. Ross Paulson autoed over and visited Marshfield relatives, Sunday.

 

Miss Emma Schlinsog came home from Chicago Wednesday for a visit under the parental roof.

 

The Misses Laura Neitzel and Violet Hollenbach had dental work done at Neillsville, Wednesday.

 

Miss Bertha Riedel drove to Loyal and spent Sunday with her sister, Mrs. Bredlau.

Mrs. Roy Lyons of Merrillan came up Monday and spent several days here with her husband.

 

Mrs. John Gardner and daughter Fern after a weeks visit at Guy Winn’s returned home to McCord on Monday.

 

Frank Lavey is excavating in preparation for the erection of a stave silo.

 

We are indebted to Mrs. Eva Canfield for an introduction to the Early Sunshine Potato, an especially palatable fine flavored tuber which she is raising this year.

 

Mr. Charles Meisenheimer and two children after a three weeks visit at Fred Zwick’s left for their home in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

 

Mrs. Staley went to Rubicon Tuesday.  Her nephew Hy Groth who had been here on a two weeks visit accompanied her.

 

Wesley Shafer has bought the Wm. Oliver place which he has rented and occupied the past year.

 

A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Cattanach of Nasonville, last Sunday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Krejci of York spent Sunday with the Fred Hart family.

 

Rev. Rathke went to Wausau Monday to attend a three days conference.

 

Vera Beeckler came home from Spencer Tuesday; Miss Pearl remaining for a longer visit.

 

Mrs. Rice Davis of Arpin came over Wednesday evening to visit her parents.

Miss Ora Marsh accompanied her grandma Johnson to Melrose, yesterday.

 

Mrs. Clyde Shaw and children came home Friday evening from their visit to Clyde at the Chippewa hospital last week.

 

The Misses Paulina and Mathilda Hogenson after a weeks visit hereabouts returned to Black River Falls, Mon.

 

Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Rawson who had been visiting their daughter, Mrs. R. Popps left for their home in Richland County, Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Otto Becker and her mother who was here from Kiel visiting her, spent last Friday afternoon among Granton friends.

 

Miss Ethel Stockwell of Neillsville and Miss Catharine Sherlock of Valley City, N. D., visited friends here a couple days last week.

 

Mrs. Arthur Loveless of Crandon has been here the past week visiting among relatives.  In company with her sister Mrs. Geo Vine she called on town friends, Tuesday.

Mrs. Leland Davis spent Monday at Marshfield aiding Mrs. Welsh in getting the Chas Chapel home in readiness for his family’s occupancy.

 

Mrs. Frank Lavey came home Sunday from a several days visit between her aunts the Mesdames S. W. Bolton  and H. G. Graves of York.

 

Geo Hart autoed to Marshfield Tuesday with his daughter Mrs. Charles Chapel and baby Zona Bell, his son Roy and Mrs. Peter Stallman.

 

Gottlieb Pischer and son Henry came home Monday from a week’s outing between Milwaukee and other points in the south and eastern part of the state.

 

All parties knowing themselves indebted to us will please call within the next 15 days and settle.  A. F. Snyder’s  Clothing Store.

 

Mrs. Henry Fischer and baby son, after a several weeks visit at Richard Braatz’s left for her home at Sioux City, Iowa, Wednesday evening.

 

Mrs. Reiff, who with her children visited her sister Mrs. Lange at Lebanon last week, joined Rev. Reiff at Burlington and spent a few days there this week.

 

Mrs. Hempe and little son came up from Milwaukee Saturday for a visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Otto Neitzel.

 

Johnnie Barth after a 5 days visit here with his sister, Miss Bertha went home last week accompanied by Herbert and Erhardt Witte who remained until Wednesday evening.

 

Mrs. Noble Downer was taken severely ill with stomach troubles Mon. morning.  She is on the gain at present.

 

Gust Bergeman has erected a row of horse sheds on the vacant lot east of his hotel. They no doubt will be greatly appreciated by his patrons.

 

Six couples namely the Messrs and Mesdames Chas Neinas, P. J. Kemmeter, Gus Bergeman, Geo Beaver, Pete Stallman and Dr. Schwarz gave August Hammler a right nice birthday surprise party Thursday evening of last week.

 

A dance will be given at the Grant Town Hall Saturday night, August 26th.

Mrs. Walter Moldenhauer, her son and her grandmother Mrs. Hankey came home late last week from a two weeks outing at Random Lake.

 

Mr. and Mrs. James Foster of Sycamore, Ill. and Mrs. Carrie Goodison of DeKalb, Ill. after a visit at Elmer Dennis’, left for home on Monday.

 

Mrs. Johnson after a 10 days visit with her sister Mrs. Wm. Schlinsog and old friends hereabouts some of whom she had not seen in 30 years, returned home to Eau Claire on Tuesday.

 

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Knorr and daughter Shirley returned home from Chilton by auto last Saturday accompanied by Arthur Knorr, a nephew of A. J’s who remained until yesterday.

 

Mrs. B. P. Churchill and children of Milwaukee and her sister Mrs. T. E. Brameld and son Theodore of Neillsville were guests at the P. J. Kemmeter home, last Friday.

 

Mrs. Geo Oldenburg and two children with Mrs. Powers and Fred Wonser’s little son, Gordon, were down from Unity last week visiting between the Al Nonhof and E. R. Wonser homes.

 

Rolla Keller, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Keller suffered a broken leg last Sunday while playing ball at Lynn. Max Opelt autoed over with the injured boy and had the limb set, at once.

 

Many from this vicinity are attending the Marshfield fair this week. Walter Moldenhauer’s airship seems to be the main attraction for them.

 

Lost - A cravenette Overcoat between Lynn and Wm. Wagner’s farm.  Finder will please return to Otto Becker, Lynn, or leave at this office.

 

Sometime last week and somewhere on the road we lost the tail lamp off our automobile. The finder will please return it to this office or notify us by phone or otherwise and will be glad to call for it.

 

Mrs. Phair and children after a couple months visit with the P. J. Kemmeter family left for their home at Winnipeg, Canada, Wednesday.  Mrs. Kemmeter accompanied them as far as Minneapolis.

 

The Henry Klopf building just north of the Forest House has recently been adorned with a new coat of paint and other wise put in tip top shape for anyone who wants to rent it.

 

Mrs. I. W. Morris brought her daughter Miss Elinor Eubanks safely home from a St. Paul hospital Sunday night.  Miss Elinor is slowly convalescing after a successful operation for appendicitis.

 

Mr. and Mrs. John Pietenpol celebrated one of Mrs. Pietenpol’s birthdays last Sunday with her brothers and their families and the J. M. Tompkins family spending the day at their house.

 

Mrs. S. T. Beckley of Viola visited her sister, Mrs. James Short at the Marshfield hospital and her sister, Mrs. Felzer of this place this week.  She is now with her parents in Shortville.

 

Miss Margaret Pierrelee who left here for Chicago a week since was taken ill enroute and stopped off in Milwaukee.  Her sister Miss Victoria who joined her there directly upon receipt of the news returned home Monday evening, reporting Miss Margaret to be on the gain and under contract to work for the Evening Wisconsin, a daily paper of that city, as soon as she is able to do so.

 

Having ordered an up-to-date carpet loom I am prepared to weave carpets and rugs for anyone wanting them.  See Mrs. C. G. Hayden on the C. H. Ide Farm

 

Miss Ruth Lee came home yesterday from Sharron where since May 10th she has been a guest of Miss Beulah Hornbeck.  She reports Mrs. Hornbeck and daughter to be doing well in the millinery business.

 

The annual Missionsfest of Rev. Reiff’s congregation will be held next Sunday, August 27th.  Services in the forenoon and afternoon and at noon the usual dinner will be served.  Everybody is invited to attend.

 

The Great Melbourn Trained Animal Shows will be in Granton next week Wednesday, August 30.  The show is reported to be very good, and as this is an opportunity not very often accorded the people in rural districts, every one ought to see it.

 

Ye Editor and family spent a pleasant hour with Mrs. Lucas Hale last Saturday.  Her conservatory boasts of orange, lemon, and fig trees with a nice showing of fruit on some of them, besides the usual variety of house plants and trailing vines which live and thrive there.

 

The Clark County Fair dates are August 29, 30, 31, and Sept. 1.  The management has taken special pains to make the fair this year interesting for all in the line of free attractions, amusements, exhibits and races and it is the duty of every man, woman, and kid in the county to take at least one day off to help make the Clark County Fair a success this year.

 

Herman Bulgrin who formerly operated the Nasonville Cheese and butter factory, we are pleased to say, is again its owner, having purchased back the stock. For some time past he has been living near Withee. The family and household goods passed through here this week for Nasonville.  Herman thoroughly understands the butter and cheese business and is a young man well liked. - Marshfield Herald

 

The Marshfield Tigers defeated the Granton Wildcats again at a fast game of ball on the local grounds Sunday afternoon by a score of 6 to 1.  It was evidently a little lack of practice or too much circus the day before on the part of some of our boys, not including the pitcher and catcher, who did their usual good work.
