York Center (8 September 1911)

 

Allen Wiggen of Plymouth has been in this vicinity for a short visit with friends.

 

Bert Lindsley and wife of Michigan came Thursday to attend the funeral of her mother and for a short stay.

 

Rev. Kildow preached a special sermon for the children, Sunday. All enjoyed it.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Smith and children were guests of E. G. Rowe and family over Sunday.

 

Melvin Lawrence and daughter Miss Beaulah went to Chippewa Monday, returning Wednesday on a visit with Mrs. Lawrence.

 

Mrs. Estella Mortimer has been suffering from a ring-a-round in her left ear.

 

School began Monday in District No. 2 with Miss Edna Dwyer as teacher.

 

There was a meeting in the M. E. Church Sunday evening. Rev. Bert Lindsley of Michigan preached a fine sermon.

 

Allie Turner lost a valuable cow Friday.

 

Perry Palmer and wife were down from Greenwood Wednesday to attend the funeral.

 

Jess Mortimer is building a silo; Mr. Kubat is doing the mason work.

 

A large crowd from surrounding parts of the country took in the fair and carnival last week.

 

Miss Allie Root, Jean Davis, Pearl and Merton Davis and Harry Hales will attend high school at Neillsville the coming year.

 

Harmon Huntley has bought him a colt and traded the horse he did have to Ross Paulson for one to mate the colt.

 

Last Wednesday while Ernest Rogers was at the store his horse became frightened at a parasol and ran as far as Mr. Voight’s hill where Reinhold caught him.  As Ernest was trying to get into the buggy the horse jumped, threw him down and the buggy ran over him.  Luckily he was not hurt or any damage done to the rig.

 

Death came to Mrs. Esther Livingston Tuesday about noon, after a lingering illness.
