Fialkowski, Johanna (26 AUG 1875 - 28 APR 1962)

Mrs. Ignatz (Johanna) Fialkowski, a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) for 30 years before moving to Winona, Minn. in 1943, passed away in that city at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 1962.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 Monday morning from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, with Father H.L. Crubel officiating.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Martin Nowak, Richard Gaffney, Ray Conzemius, Harry Dempsey, Alfred Ciokiewicz and Walter Kelly.

The former Johanna Kopaczewski, 86, was born in Poland Aug. 26, 1875, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kopaczewski, and came to the United States in 1913.  She made her home in Owen for 30 years, where her husband was associated with the lumbering industry.  He preceded her in death, passing away in 1947.

She was a most devote Christian Woman, spending many hours in prayer and reading.  Those who remember her being in Owen will recall the large garden plots she cared for throughout the summer months.

Survivors are three sons, Alfred and John, Chicago, and Verne, Rochester, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Charlotte) Kelly, Minnesota City, Mrs. Tony (Gertrude) Ciokiewicz, Owen, and Miss Helen Fialkowski, Winona; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
