Thorson, Kathleen Ann #2 (14 APR 1962)

Given in marriage by her father, Miss Kathleen Ann Thorson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Jack E. Jalling, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jalling of Withee, on Saturday, April 14, 1962, in a lovely late afternoon ceremony.

The altar of Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee was decorated with aqua and yellow chrysanthemums and white snapdragons, and bows and bells marked the pews for the wedding, which was performed by the Rev. Beryl Knudsen at 4:00 o’clock.  During the ceremony James Cesar of Milwaukee, a relative of the bride, rendered two solos, "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer."  Mrs. Lester Hansen accompanied him on the organ.

The bride was attired in a chapel length gown of embroidered nylon organza fashioned with scalloped Sabrina Neckline and a bouffant skirt with tiers held by a bow in the back.

The crown of pearl peaks and crystal drops secured the scalloped silk bouffant veil which was accented with pearls.  The bridal bouquet was comprised of a white orchid, stephanotis and aqua and yellow carnations.

Preceding the bride to the altar was little Miss Debra Scharer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Galen Scharer, who was the junior bridesmaid.  Nona Paulsen of Eau Claire was her maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Bonnie Peterson of Eau Claire and Miss Linda Jalling, sister of the groom.  They wore sleeveless street length silk organza frocks in aqua over maize taffeta that were designed with draped necklines and two-toned velvet bows at the waistline.  Their matching picture hats were highlighted by daises and they carried bouquets of white, aqua and yellow feathered carnations.

Attending the groom as best man was James Carlsen of Minneapolis, with groomsmen Robert Erickson of Milwaukee and David Mattes of Milwaukee, who were attired in white coats, black trousers and bow ties.  The ushers were Dennis Christophersen of Thorp and John Gehrke of Eau Claire.

A reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the parish hall of the Nazareth Lutheran Church to about 300 guests.  The tables were decorated with yellow daffodils and pussy willows with yellow candles.

Mrs. Jalling is a graduate of the 1960 class of the Owen-Withee Senior High School and has been employed at Thorp Finance at Thorp.

Mr. Jalling is also a graduate of the Owen-Withee Senior High School and is a student at Wis. State College at Eau Claire.

The newlyweds will be at home at 2013 Cameron Street in Eau Claire after April 30.
