Thorne, Audrey J. (14 JUL 1962)

A nuptial ceremony was performed July 14, 1962 at 2:00 o’clock at the Church of Our Savior, Fond du Lac, where Miss Audrey Joan Thorne, daughter of Harold Thorne, Fond du Lac, and the late Mrs. Thorne, was given in marriage by her father to Donald L. Nevala, Fond du Lac, son of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Nevala, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The church altar was banked with bouquets of white gladioli and white carnations for the wedding at which the Rev. B.J. Stecker officiated.  Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Teclaw, Beaver Dam, sang "The Wedding Prayer," by Dunlop, and "The Lord Bless You," by Bach.

DuWayne Schmidt and Julien Kinzer, Fond du Lac, seated the guests.

As the bride entered the church she was wearing a wedding gown of silk organza with re-embroidered Alencon lace, the Basque bodice adorned with appliques of lace, similar appliques repeated on the flowing chapel train skirt, the back of which featured an organza rose.  Her veil fell from a lace petal hat embroidered with miniature pearls and topped with a dainty organza rose.  The bridal bouquet was a semi-cascade of white cymbidium orchids and stephanotis, with stephanotis tied in showers.

Miss Shirley Thorne, Fond du Lac, the maid of hone, and Miss Mary Agnes Chapin, Oshkosh, the bridesmaid, wore identical ice blue dresses of silk organza and lace.  Their street length full skirts were augmented with front overlays of lace.  Lace overlays also were on the fitted bodices which had scoop necklines.  Their headpieces of blue with circular veils were doll hats of pearl edged scalloped braid.

Merin Nevala, Thorp, was the best man, and Thomas Nigham?, Willmar, Minn., was the groomsman.

The Eagles Club at Fond du lac was the setting for the wedding reception for 200 guests.  Following a northern Wisconsin honeymoon the Nevalas will make their home at 35 W. 12th St., Fond du Lac.

The bride is secretary at Goodrich High School, Fond du Lac, where her husband is a mathematics and science instructor.  He is a graduate of Wis. State College, River Falls, and presently is attending Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Ill., doing graduate work.  Upon completion of his studies Aug. 2, the newlyweds will leave for northern Wisconsin on a wedding trip.
