A much needed rain put in its appearance Friday afternoon of last week, but it came with such hast that the greater part of it rushed its way to the streams.  We have heard of no particular damage being done in this vicinity.

Tuesday of last week Lindsey’s pioneer merchant was a passenger on the outgoing train for a trip to Milwaukee and Chicago. He returned Monday and hoofed it from Dexterville, a change in the running of trains having gone into effect.

Mrs. Will Opelt was obliged to undergo another operation for gathering in the breast.  Drs. Potter and Vedder from Marshfield did the operation.

A carload of cattle was shipped from Lindsey station Tuesday of last week by Chris Paulson.  Undoubtedly there is an opportunity for much more of shipping stock and produce from Lindsey, if only there was a good buyer located here.  A good location with shipping facilities as we have here will be picked up by someone sooner or later.

Last Week Thursday George Jones moved his family to New Lisbon where he has rented a 190 acre farm.  The family went by train and some of their goods he shipped that way, Mr. Jones driving and taking a load by team.

Wesley Harnick, Lindsey’s blacksmith, as made a deal for the Thiel property an took the occupancy of the same after Jones moved out.

E.L. Haertl and wife made a trip to Lynn and returned on last week Thursday’s train.

Geo. Burt moved his family into the house recently vacated by Simpsons.

Thursday of last week Perry Hayes made a business trip to Pittsville, returning Friday.

Next week Thursday afternoon on Oct. 23 the Ladies Aid Society will meet in the church.  They are to have an election of officers and some other interesting matter to come before the meeting.  The ladies seem to have a faculty of making things to, sometimes against great odds.

Mrs. Orrison O’Brien returned to her home at Doylestown Thursday of last week, after a few days visit with relatives.

During the storm of last Friday lightning struck both the store and residence of Aug. Broker.  A brick was thrown from the chimney and a rafter splintered in the house, and some siding and shingles splintered up at the store.  It was a close call at any rate if the damage was only slight.

Mr. and Mrs. Gardner came last Friday with their household and other goods and moved Saturday into their new farm home, the Arthur Garbush farm recently purchased.

Max Opelt came down from Lynn in his auto Monday.

Will Opelt took in a car of potatoes Tuesday.

Monday Dr. Milbee was down to see Mrs. Opelt.

Mrs. Jim Clark was obliged to go to the hospital at Marshfield Tuesday where she had to undergo an operation.

Edwin Ketelle made an auto trip to Marshfield Monday.

Mrs. Laura Haertl was a caller at the Haertl’s Monday afternoon.

Mesdames Simpson and Muir called on Mrs. Herman Ulbricht Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Robinson dined at Haertl’s Sunday.

Mrs. Gillman and daughters were callers at Mrs. Kramer’s Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clark Called on Ketelle’s Sunday.

Lindsey takes on much of a business aspect this week to hear the hum of the saw and the scream of the whistle as the sawmill arrived in town last Monday.  It is now located on the land of J.R. Crouch near the crossroads.  When that setting is finished they will move out by Johnson’s.

The threshing machine was here last Wednesday.  Tilton, Johnson and Crouch all having settings.

Robbins baled his hay at Broker’s place Tuesday.
