Humbird News (Property Transfers - 1944)

Transfers of two properties in the village were made this month, and in each one possession is to be given on March 1st.

H. G. Iffland, who has been on the farm in Houghtonburg with his father for several years past, has purchased the Humbird Hotel and tavern property from the Home Loan Association, and will operate the business.  Mr. and Mrs. Hartwig Nelson, present occupants, are undecided about their future plans.

The F. A. Shute house has been sold to G. J. Coxe, whose son-in-law and family will occupy it as soon as repairs are made. Mr. and Mrs. Shute have owned the property for the past thirty years and occupied the residence during their ownership of the store now A. W. Short’s place of business.  Mrs. Mary Crane and her nephew Claude Washburn, who reside in the lower part of the house, and Mrs. Geo. Woodford, who lives upstairs, are having difficulty in finding new quarters.
