Northern Clark County (6 May 1965)

 

Mrs. T. Bauernfeind has returned to Thorp after spending several days in Hudson with the John Bauernfeind family.

 

Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Gisvold and family of Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Smigaj of Minocqua, were recent dinner and supper guests at the R. Smigaj home in Thorp.

 

Harvey V. Brandsness, a native of Thorp, has been elected assistant treasurer by the board of directors of the American Sugar Company.

 

At a recent meeting of the board of directors of the Owen-Curtiss State Bank, it was announced that Edward Bergstrom has sold his controlling interest in the bank to B. J. Iverson of Pittsville.

 

David Wittek of Withee won fourth place in a youth recognition award contest sponsored by the Tri-State Breeders cooperative of Westby.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Mel Luke and son of Waukegan, Ill., have returned home after spending a week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kangas of Owen.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heitz and five children of Dayton, O., have settled in the Owen area on a farm they recently purchased from Robert Hamm.

 

Mrs. Arnold Bjornstad is convalescing at her home in Owen from surgery.

 

The Rev. and Mrs. L. A. Urman and children have returned to Withee from Quincy, Ill, where they were called by the death of Mrs. Urman’s father.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Buford Nickolsen have purchased the James Alert home a mile southeast of Withee. They plan to move there in the near future.

 

A/2c John Andersen of Duluth, Minn., was a recent weekend guest of his grandmother, Mrs. Alex Sorenson, in Withee.  John is spending 30 days with relatives and friends before leaving for 18 months of duty in France.

 

Arthur Frane of Abbotsford, who was seriously injured in a sawmill accident few weeks ago, has returned to his home in Abbotsford.

 

Fred Kropelin of St. Francis, Ont., and his fiancée, were house guests recently of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Buss, Sr., in rural Colby. They were visiting relatives in the Abbotsford and Colby are.

 

Jack Nikolay of Abbotsford has returned home from Eau Claire, where he underwent ear surgery.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Henning have returned to Abbotsford after spending the winter in Florida.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leichtnam and family of Davisburg, Mich., were guests several days recently of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Leichtnam and Mr. and Mrs. James Noonan, in Abbotsford.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hiebl of Abbotsford are planning to move to Dorchester soon.
