Beyreis, Verlyn (05 JAN 1931-16 FEB 2011)

 

Verlyn E. Beyreis, 81, Marshfield, formerly of Spencer, passed away in the evening on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield, under the tender care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 20, at Life Tributes Funeral Home, Spencer. Rev. David DePaoli presided. Private committal services were held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Brighton. Military rites were conducted following the services at the funeral home.

 

Verlyn E. Beyreis was born on Jan. 5. 1931, in Unity, the son of Ernest and Blanche (nee Kayhadt) Beyreis. Years later, he joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. During his military leave, he returned to the area and married Vernice Cramer on Aug. 8, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. After re-enlisting in the Army, he served an additional two years as a staff sergeant with communications while stationed in Karlaruhe, Germany. He was honorably discharged from the Army in May 1956. He was employed at General Farm Supply in Spencer as a mill worker until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer and also held various offices on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church. His hobbies were fishing and hunting and working in his vegetable garden.

 

Survivors include his loving wife, Vernice Beyreis, Marshfield; six children, Terry (Bonnie) Beyreis, Spencer, Jane (Jim) Krause, Spencer, Alan (Linda) Beyreis, Garrison, N.D., Pamela (Mark) Krause, Spencer, Kevin (Sharon) Beyreis, Spencer, and Wendy (Matt) Bychinski, Earlham, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Nevala, Withee, Joyce Bomback, Willard, and Gayle Zorman, Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith Beyreis; and one sister, Phyllis Loos.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians and staff at the House of The Dove for the care and compassion given to Verlyn.
