Olsen, Donna Barbara (Marriage - 5 June 1965)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood uniting in marriage Miss Donna Barbara Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Olson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Olson of Rt. 3, Greenwood.  The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated at the 2:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.

The bride entered the church with her father as 200 guests witnessed.  Her bridal gown of Chantilly lace and sheer organza over taffeta was styled with a full floor-length bouffant skirt, enhanced with appliqués of lace.  Bands of lace accented the front hemline.  A double court train cascaded from the waistline to the floor.  Long, traditional sleeves and a scalloped Sabrina neckline complimented the fitted lace bodice.  The three-tiered veil of illusion was attached to a rose headpiece. She carried a bouquet of white orchids and red roses.

The bride’s attendants were Mrs. Richard Braun, matron-of-honor; Margie Dyre, Sandra Olson and Diane Olson.  The attendants were attired in floor length bluebell skirted gowns in a rich brocade of embossed acetate taffeta.  Scooped bateau necklines enhanced the fitted bodices. Crown headpieces, studded with seed pearls, held their blue shoulder-length veils. They carried bouquets of blue tinted carnations.

Gerald Olson of Hawaii was bestman. Groomsmen were Richard Braun of Glasgow, Mont.; Richard Olson and David Friske.  Ushers were Dennis Wendt of Owen and Ronald Hendrickson of Greenwood.

Gary Olson carried the rings on a heart-shaped pillow fashioned by his mother.  Charlette Hendrickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hendrickson, was the flower girl.

"O Perfect Love" was sung by Marilyn Dunn, and "The Lord’s Prayer" was sung by the Rev. Mr. Myhrwold. Both were accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner.

A reception was held in the church parlors, attended by 200 guests.

The bride was salutatorian of the 1965 graduating class of Greenwood High school and will be employed in the Marshfield Clinic.  The groom, a 1963 graduate of Greenwood High School, is employed in Spencer.

On their return from a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Olson will reside in Marshfield.
