Boss, Donna Louise (18 July 1959)

Miss Donna Louise Boss became Mrs. LeRoy Merlak during a wedding ceremony at 10 a.m. July 18, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Ladysmith.  Rev. James Griffin performed the rite.

Mr. and Mrs. Pete Boss, Ladysmith, are the parents of the bride and LeRoy Merlak is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Merlak of Loyal.

Hand-clipped Chantilly lace and misty sheer tulle over slipper satin fashioned the floor length gown of the bride.  A scalloped Sabrina neckline detailed the fitted bodice with wrist length tapered sleeves.  Diagonal panels of lace on filmy tulle over cascading tiers of ruffled tulle enhanced the bell-shaped skirt.  A Bedford illusion sequin and pearl studded hat held the pure silk imported fingertip illusion veil.  She carried white orchids on a white prayer book.

Serving her sister as matron of honor was Mrs. Gerald McHugh of Eau Claire.

Mrs. Leonard Boss and Kathy Yankee of Ladysmith were bridesmaids and Vicky Merlak of Loyal, sister of the groom, was Junior Bridesmaid.

Delft blue silk organza over taffeta fashioned the ballerina length dresses of the bride’s attendants.  Cowl draped necklines with self bows on each shoulder and wide banded midriff detailed the Grecian style bodice.  Tiny satin ribbons bows with pearl centers were scattered over the bouffant bubble skirt.  A pearl edge detailed each taper of the horsebraid crown with blusher veils, dyed to match their gowns.  They carried colonial bouquets of yellow and pink carnations centered with rose buds.

Debra Jean Boss, Ladysmith, niece of the bride was flower girl and wore a white dotted Swiss organdy floor length dress with a small flower band on her hair.

Gary Mech, Marshfield, the grooms’ cousin, was ring-bearer.

Tom Wepfer, Loyal, served his friend as best man.  Leonard Boss, Ladysmith, brother of the bride, and Lynn Lawrenz, Loyal, were groomsmen.

Gerald McHugh, Eau Claire, and Dick Ohlrogge, Minneapolis, ushered.

The Nuptial High Mass was sung by Juliann and Mary Terncson.  The organist was Sue St. Loois.

The bride’s mother wore a blue lace dress and a blue linen dress was worn by the Groom’s mother.

The new Mrs. Merlak is a graduate of Ladysmith High School and is employed by Beneficial Finance Co., Eau Claire.  The Groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School is a senior at the Eau Claire State College.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents and a Smorgasbord dinner and reception for 125 guests was given at the Tee Away Lodge, Ladysmith.
