Banks, Leila (24 May 1958)

When the former Leila Mae Banks and her bridegroom of Saturday, May 24, Dennis Richard Halpin, return from a western honeymoon trip they will live on route one, Loyal. The couple were married at a ceremony in St. John’s Catholic Church, Rib Lake, by the Rev. Robert Stock at 9:30 a.m. A bridal breakfast followed at the home of the brode’s parents, with a dinner and reception in the Church Hall.

The bride’s sweep train gown was fashioned of cloud soft nylon tulle and chantilly lace. The bodice and sleeves were of lace and lace appliqués detailed the sweep tulle skirt. Exquisitely fashioned was her pillbox cap from which her veil of illusion fell. She wore a pearl necklace and earrings and carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Banks, Rib Lake, chose her sister Nancy Banks, for maid of honor. A friend, Miss Louise Wenzel, Stevens Point, was bridesmaid, and Miss Barbara Banks, also the bride’s sister, was junior bridesmaid. The attendant’s powder blue ballerina length gowns were fashioned of nylon sheer. Their criss cross tucked bodices topped the bouffant skirts while pleated cummerbunds gave the waistline interest. Their pearl necklaces and earrings were gifts of the bride. Tiny caps with leaf and rose bud trim completed their attire. They carried bouquets of pink and blue carnations.

William Halpin came from Elkader, Iowa, to serve his brother as best man. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Halpin of Loyal. Bill Mathias, Rib Lake, cousin of the bride, Glenn Mathias of Rib Lake, and Robert Kutchera of Humbird, ushered.

Music was by the church choir with Mrs. Myron Hansen as organist.

The bride’s mother wire a navy blue jacked dress and white accessories and the groom’s mother wore a rose lace dress with white accessories.

The groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School and is a farmer on Route one, Loyal. The bride is a graduate of Rib Lake High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing at Marshfield and is a nurse in Dermatology Department at St, Joseph’s Hospital.
